I still don't see what possible lulz could be gained from it

Even if the Wii stopped selling, completely, it would still not be doomed. The fastest selling console in history could never be doomed, no matter if it lost the gen or not.

Beyond that, it's the console that reached out to a "harder-to-reach" market. Doomed they say, nah...
As others mentioned, it must have been for the lulz...

Yes, you are right. But theoretically speaking, if we imagined a scenario where it started tanking really hard. Let's say sales went down by more than 50% in 2010 and beyond, and meanwhile Sony caught fire and starts selling like hot cakes.

It would look really stupid for Nintendo and their fans. They would get so ridiculed by trolls and stealth trolls everywhere.

I don't think it'll happen though, Wii will win every year in sales 'til the gen is over.

I voted for Wii is doomed.

$249.99 Wii with Wii Sports vs. $299.99 PS3 Slim 120 GB vs. $299.99 Xbox 360 Elite 120 GB.

^Pretty much the argument here.

Yeah PS3 and 360 don't stand a chance

Predictions:Sales of Wii Fit will surpass the combined sales of the Grand Theft Auto franchiseLifetime sales of Wii will surpass the combined sales of the entire Playstation family of consoles by 12/31/2015 Wii hardware sales will surpass the total hardware sales of the PS2 by 12/31/2010 Wii will have 50% marketshare or more by the end of 2008 (I was wrong!!  It was a little over 48% only)Wii will surpass 45 Million in lifetime sales by the end of 2008 (I was wrong!!  Nintendo Financials showed it fell slightly short of 45 million shipped by end of 2008)Wii will surpass 80 Million in lifetime sales by the end of 2009 (I was wrong!! Wii didn't even get to 70 Million)

That wouldn't be too different from what is happening anyway. The focus would just shift from real mature hardcore games to console sales.

You mean that if that'd happen, focus on fanboy and gaming forums would shift on what's considered as the most important parameter for the 'nex gen wars'?

It's hardly a surprise if you consider 39.51% of voters in the last poll voted for "Watch out Wii...Sony's Back!"

Because the analysts say so.

I'm pretty sure they know what they're talking about.

They're usually completely wrong.

The theory of economics essentially states that eerything is the value that the purchaser is willing to pay. A $250 Wii will look more attractive to a lot of people than even a $199 Xbox 360 or PS3 with some new UHD technology included. The reason why those systems are so low right now is because they have devalued due to low interest, and Wii hasn't yet, and has been first for a very long time.

I describe myself as a little dose of toxic masculinity.

Its just the fanboys, Wii isn't doomed it just needs a new games, price drop, and ads.
