Forums - Sony Discussion - PS3 is as bad as 360 RROD, 2 repairs, £200 and died again.

This is now the third time my PS3 has failed, and for all you Sony fans that will say... oooh no it hasn't any you are making this up... shut up and and get a life... YES IT hAS and I am a little upset. I have had it "REPAIRED" by sony twice at a cost of £99 each time and quest what it has new stopped reading disks. So if anyone is thinking of getting a PS3 don't bother is Shxt... I have a 360 and yes that has failed but good old MS repaired it for nothing... But not sony they just keep taking your money and producing crap... Just on a side is there any way of recovering my PS3 and not sending back to Sony "AGAIN".. I have restored the system and then updated to the latest verion and still no joy... If you can please help.

If my PS3 dies. I already have told myself that I am not going to get it repaired... Nor will I pay for my Xbox to be repaired

Sucks doesnt it?
We have faulty hardware so the logical step is to blame the company

Consoles I own: Dreamcast, PSP

dude, stop paying sony to fix it. They'll only send you another refurb (which is nothing but a lemon that broke before). Mine broke for the second time and instead of paying $150 again, I added another $150 and preordered the slim. The slim sounds more reliable on paper but if it isn't, I'll make sure it breaks within a year.

I feel your pain. It's disgusting when people try to clown you as an xbot when you just have a legit complaint. Did you have a 60 gb launch version? Those one's have the highest failure rates and I'm willing to give up BC, 4 usb, memory card slots and linux for reliability because it's a megabummer when one's system dies. I cant go through it again.

You are truly unlucky. I have an 80 GB launch PS3 and it hasn't gone through one single problem, besides getting pretty loud every now and then.

I've been a victim twice. I'm seriously considering that sig.

It seems the 60gigs are the ones failing the most. A buddy of mine just had his kick the bucket :\

dude, dont falsely accuse people. MM476 is on his 4th 60gb too. Better be careful, I won't trust the 60gb if I were you.

pristine it's serious gamer though.
i never seen someone online so much lol so late o

Sorry about your luck.
My close-to-launch 60 gig is still going strong to spite some crashing problems with UFC that were fixed in the next FW update.

Since it seems you are out of warranty you might be able to get a new BD drive off ebay or something like that and fix it yourself for a lot less.
