Forums - Sony Discussion - Help please! I think my ps3 has bricked

So yeah, as the title says i think my ps3 has kicked the bucket after 2 short years (a joke for £425 of hardware)

It turns on, shows a yellow light for a second then turns back off, Ive left it unplugged and in a well vened area for 5 hours to cool off, and the same thing.... Im pretty sure theres no coming back

So my question is has anyone in the UK experianced this problem, as ive had it for two years the warrenty has expired, I want to know how much sony is going to charge me for repairs.

Also to anyone who suggests I buy a new console, I want the cheapest option as money for me is tight (im a student) and I would like to keep the option of playing my PS2 games.

Also does anyone know if i can get the game out of it, it turns off before the disk ejects...

Thank you for your time and i hope you can help me

I believe it's 149 for the repairs... Best of luck.

Instead of hearing people speculate... why don't you call Sony?

^ This...Call SONY for repairs

It does not sound to promising for the PS3 but you might want to try this as mentioned in this thread.

do the Fan Test- cut the ps3 on and while its trying to come on hurry up and hold down the Ejected button down. if done right your fan will come on, while thats happing hit the ejected button again and the disc should come out.

If this does not work just try your best to make sure they realise a disc is stuck in the machine and if you are really luky and the tech guy is felling nice they might even send it back.

They mention also that the repair is likely $150 so you can almost certainly translate into pounds the theiving buggers that they are.

get out Troll :]

I just traded in my 60GB for a slim. Originals have been breaking left and right. Sorry about your loss. $150 to repair.

(I figured...$160 trade-in value of 60GB and $300 for slim meant $140 out of pocket. Beats $150 for any future repair.)

Thank you all for your help, I will contact sony tomorrow.
