I did a complete body shave for a GF once (apart from my head), it took almost 6 months to recover, and an itchy 6 months it was.

shaved = awesome. though my wife worries that men who like... certain parts shaved are semi-sick. As in it makes females seem underage. But wouldn't legs being shaved do that as well?

Not for the person being shaved. There are some parts of a mans body that a razor blade should never, ever come close to.

If you can't tell a girl is underage before you see her naked you are in trouble anyway. 

I've never shaved my legs, which are medium-hairy, and I've never shaved my chest, which is luckily still super smooth at age 24, but once I shaved my armpits with a razor. It sucked and itched like hell growing back in. Now I'll just occasionally trim it down with some electric clippers down to half an inch or so, to keep it trimmed without itching. Face-wise, I keep a badass moustache and beard (see photo album). Downtown-wise, shaved (front and back) for about 5 years. I can NOT stand having a single hair on me down there. It gives me the creeps. And I'm not even hairy down there. I just NEED to shave it all. I've considered waxing, but to do that you gotta let it grow all the way out first, and I could never wait that long.
