Forums - Nintendo Discussion - My experience with Nintendo's Customer Service 2 years ago

This thread is about how my experience was with Nintendo's Customer Service 2 years ago.

Ok so its starts off on a rainy day in June 2007 when I was playing my GBA SP  and it got extremely wet because it suddendly started to pour like crazy. I got inside fast but it was very wet but guess what? It still worked. But then after a week or so some of the pixels started to die and then it wouldn't start sometimes and I would have to plug it in and then take the charger out after 1 min and then only would it start. Although it was an intermittent problem, I started to worry. So I called Nintendo's Customer Service and told them about the problem and so Nintendo sent me a package in which to send my GBA SP to Redmond, WA. It was pre-paid and so I didn't have to pay for shipping and also it was the express post so that got me pretty happy considering I wanted it back fast and was worried I wouldn't get it fast and it would take like for ever. Anyway, so after 7 days I got my package back and was very happy because I couldn't wait to play my games. But when I opened the package all I found was a envelope and no GBA SP. I opened the envelope and found a letter and money. So i read the letter and it said that Nintendo didn't have any problems with my system whatsoever in the trial period (consists of 3 days) but have sent you money for the system instead. The amount sent was $140 US and at that time that meant it was $150 CAD. With that $150 I bought a DS Lite and gave it away as a gift to my best friend cause it was his birthday and bought my self a PSP a year later in 2008. So thats how my experience with Nintendo's Customer Service ends...

So I am now wondering even after 2 years that why did they send me money when they had no problems with the system whatsoever in the trial period. I am beginning to wonder if it was because of the dead pixels. I mean they would have fixed the system right and not send me money...But oh well thanks Nintendo I spent $100 with tax when I first bought it in 2004 and 3 years later I got $50 more than what I paid. Ninty you are the best.

And I think MS is improving too because they have increased the warranty on all 360's because of RROD,. Am I correct?

wow thats awesome, they gave you 150$ for a broken GBA SP, maybe they will do that for my broken GBC :P

That's peculiar. I would expect them to send a replacement system, but I guess they don't have very many GBAs lying around anymore.

Getting cash back from a warranty repair seems very strange to me. Hard to complain, though.

actually i think the only reason they sent me cash was because i said there was a problem but they couldn't find it and so sent me cash instead plus its in 2007 gba sp were way too outdated and so i just got money...

@ O-D-C

you know if you have that broken gbc lying around why don't you send it in if they find the problem then they will fix it and if its unfixable they will get you money

but if you want money even if it can be fixed then just say it has intermittent problems of some sort like my problem then they should give you money....

ok...

Wii_Master please don't create this kind of thing, it's good to have good customer service. And let's leave at that, I think most of us would like it to stay good.

Hey, they are looking out.

Two months ago, I complained on Nintendo's forums about my noisy Wii (it was loud). Someone internal read the post, contacted me and arranged to fix it for me free of charge. You're probably thinking oh that's part of the warranty, but my system was a year and a half past warranty expiration date.

I'm more than satisfied.

A point to consider and then a question.

Note that the poster lives in Canada, which might have specific warranty and repair laws not found elsewhere (such as in the United States). That could be why the system was "purchased" rather than "repaired."

Second, after that experience, I wonder why the original poster would buy from another company. Hopefully it will also have good service (if needed).

I like to jump around, and would lead a fairly serene and aimless existence if it weren't for my friends always getting into trouble. I love to help out, even when it puts me at risk. I seem to make friends with people who just can't stay out of trouble.

are you saying that I am lying? cause if you are then you are wrong

if you think i am lying point out the things that would confirm i am lying and not some stupid thing like it came in 7 days cause i have answer to that as i said it was express post...

then you would probably think this is a fake story as well.  http://www.vgchartz.com/forum/post.php?id=2533613

the only reason I bought a PSP was because you know the DS the one I gave to my friend well he is at my house all the time or I am at his and so we play both systems which ever we want and sometimes we trade the systems for like a month and don't care....its like we own both...he lives like 2 mins by walkingand 1 min by bike and 10 seconds by car lol
