Why are you still posting here? I don't have to give any reasons why I don't want the PS3. That is not what the thread is about. It is about standalone blu ray players. Get lost.

I'm still posting here because I can. You right, you don't HAVE to give any reasons, but the fact that you won't is pretty telling about what the purpose of your thread is. And this thread isn't about standalone bluray players. You might've wanted it to be, but it isn't. It's about the best value/quality blu ray player in the 500 dollar range. There's no such thing. It doesn't exist. Why? Because for 300 dollars you can get a ps3, which, according to your criteria (value/quality), is the best blu-ray player out there. Anything in the 500 dollar range does NOT meet your criteria, because it's a ripoff, therefore not matching your value/quality criteria.

Choices:

1) Close the topic and create a new one with a better title

2) Stop being a fanboy

I suggest both personally, but just one would work.

Do you like getting banned? Your opinion is not wanted or needed. Not including the PS3 in the conversation does not make me a fanboy. Get lost.

Getting banned is aight. Do you like it? If my opinion isn't wanted or needed you shouldn'tve made a thread on a forum I frequent.  Not including the ps3 in the conversation doesn't make you a fanboy, but your bullish/stubborn attitude towards it does.

Liquid and those pimping the PS3,

The OP made it clear he doesn't want a PS3, regardless of whether you think his reasons are reasonable or not (and indeed whether they actually are reasonable or not) he has made up his mind and continuing to pursue the discussion is derailing the topic and causing an argument.

Leave the thread.

I will not warn you again.  This isn't a discussion, you leave the thread or get banned. Period.

To Each Man, Responsibility

Here is a great website that has details and reviews for most Blu-ray Players.

http://www.blu-ray.com/players/

A popular choice seems to be the Sony BDP-S360 or S560 but for the best at about $500 this is the one you should get.

Although without a complete reference audio setup it would be worthless to spend that kind of money and you would be better off with one of the many available $250-$350 range Blu-ray players like the 2 Sony's I mentioned.

What do you mean by a complete reference audio setup? I like the fact that it has 8-10 second load times. That S560 does look like a great player as well.

Buy 2 PS3's

This one proposes some interesting output: http://www.blu-ray.com/players/players.php?p=1&id=105

Evan Wells (Uncharted 2): I think the differences that you see between any two games has much more to do with the developer than whether it’s on the Xbox or PS3.

Wow I never knew that a thread about a blu-ray playing good become such a troll fest, and filled with immature posts that it overshadows that of the regular gaming forums. First and foremost, the OP doesn't need to explain himself. He said no PS3 and that means NO PS3. There isn't anything wrong with wanting something that is dedicated solely to one purpose. What you should do as somebody who is posting their opinion, is to respect that of the OPs. I could see if you said something along the lines of, " I personally think the PS3 would be the best option regardless, but I can help you if you strictly want a standalone player" rather than what I've been seeing, " You're stupid, there is no reason other than fanboyism that you wouldn't want a PS3." It is pretty sad that I even need to mention how horrible this thread is becoming. The OP didn't do anything wrong. He even specified in the OP that he doesn't want a PS3.

That is the player I think I will wind up getting. It seems to be very high in quality.

Reference level audio setup are basically top of the line setups that provide full range audio output.   $1000+ A/V Recievers, $3-10K Speaker setups.   Here is the speakers setup I am going with as soon as I can get the money together for it.

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001RMN4B2/ref=pd_lpo_k2_dp_sr_1?pf_rd_p=486539851&pf_rd_s=lpo-top-stripe-1&pf_rd_t=201&pf_rd_i=B000TDEME8&pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_r=18VSRZCGB1T6BFTVA2ZK

I would still need a good reciever to run all of that plus I would still need a second subwoofer and 2 rear channel speakers since I plan on going with 7.2 surround sound.   And thats a pretty low end reference setup,  my fathers tops the 10K range for just the speakers alone.
