Forums - Sony Discussion - BluRay Players Now $98

It is not only fonctions it is the quality of the player in general.

I'm not gonna make a technical comparaisons here (Im' not capable of that).

But for me, a good BR player is a Pioneer, Denon, Marantz...

PS3 has a very good ratio value for money but is already lagging behind (noise, hd audio to be decoded with the receiver not the console etc).

But for the moment, I'm quite happy with it.

Btw : Cnet said that last year.

Uh? It's actually the opposite, the PS3 used to decode "in software" the Dobly TrueHD and DTS-HD MA audio format and output them as PCM streams to the receiver instead of bitstreaming them directly and letting the receiver decompress them. No quality loss, mind you, as the PCM is the uncompressed digital content in its entirety.

The newer Panasonic HDMI chips used in the PS3 slim are also able to bitstream those two formats directly, if you like to see the lights signaling those formats on your receiver of if for some reason it has troubles with PCM.

Don't because Wal*Mart is going to have 32" Vizio's for $349.99 very soon, they had them 2 months ago and last month, they have the weekend sale on 32" and 37" Vizio almost every month.

I asked the guy at the counter, he said the original price of that unit was $198.99, but was disscounted last month for $128.99, he said they had this price up for over a week so it might be a new price until they are sold, or a new model might be coming out.

I'm so impatient but I'll have to wait if this is true, thanks. =P My last hd tv was robbed from my old house so I'm gaming on a SD right now.

cheap is crap, cheapest = total crap

What you pay is what you get

Say that to my Panny 1080p HDTV with IPS LCD Panels (http://www.pchardwarehelp.com/guides/lcd-panel-types.php) I bought on Black Friday for 500 bucks. Yes what you pay is what you get sometimes, when you buy Bose you pay for that Bose name and those paper speaker cones, so you don't have to settle with some cheap shitty Denon that are 3/4ths the price yet double the quality. What are consumers thinking!

The ps3 slim is the BEST blu-ray player value.

No blu-ray player offer 120GB, wi-fi,2usb,blutooth,web-browser and media gallery.

The PS3 holds the crow as the best high-tech device ever.

As a blu-ray player it destroys in quality/value the competition.

As gaming device it destroys in quality/value the competition.

No, its just the console which lost the most money, ever.

Awww... you mean as opposed to the console which lost the CONSUMERS most money, ever : The Xbox 360? LOL. Better Sony than me. All those years of LIVE, all those repairs out of warraty, all those that died when there wasn't even a warranty (and E74 until very recently)...no man, you should have some shame someday and stop bashing the PS3. You'll end up buying one sooner rather than later when the crapbox bricks on you out of warranty !
