Wii Sports Resort hits 100k in Australia

Nintendo Australia has announced that according to figures released by independent market research group GfK Retail and Technology Australia, after only four weeks since launch, Wii Sports Resort has sold through more than 100,000 copies throughout Australia.

Yesterday Nintendo of America said the Wii Sports follow-up had sold more than 1 million copies in the United States since its July 26 launch, while it's also hit the same milestone in Japan and Europe, pushing worldwide sales over the 3 million mark.

"Millions of consumers worldwide have demonstrated that they want their summer vacations to keep going," said Cammie Dunaway, Nintendo of America’s executive vice president of Sales & Marketing. "Wii Sports Resort provides both novice and veteran players a fun, virtual escape to a resort island with their friends and family – something that will be even more appealing as the weather turns cooler this fall and winter."

That's pretty huge for a Wii game down under.

Even though they use americans in the commercials, it still sells well. All the asians and women would of bought this. I don't know any 'normal' people who own a wii here... yet

Wow, so women and asians arent normal? great call there dude...

FYI im from down under and the large majority of my friends have a Wii, oh and theyre "normal" too. granted most of me and my friends grew up with the snes and 64, so theres probably just the residual nintendo love that sent us straight to the Wii.

 

Anyway good to hear its selling so well here, does anyone remember the LTD of Wii in Aus?

The Wii has sold over 1 million in Australia, don't know quite how much..

I also have normal Aussie mates with Wii's..

I think 'someone' needs word practice or communication normalisation procedures.
