Forums - Sales Discussion - Slimebeast predicts: NPD and remaining PS3 & X360 sales 2009

@bigdom good for you. But the people who haven't jumped on HD consoles will have the following scenerio right in front of them:

XBOX 360 ELITE -

HDD- 120GB

PS3 SLIM

HDD- 120GB

Blu-ray YES

Wi-Fi YES

Free Online YES

NOTICE I didn't include the same features under the Xbox list with a big "NO" next to them, why you ask? to prove my point : You have two systems priced the same, but the PS3 offers more. Which one is ripping you off? You don't have to be a genius to answer, but I'll understand if your answer is not the same as mine (and I'm not a genius).

There's alot of people don't use wifi...

The bluray is for movies and games and i already expressed the alternative.

Like I said the only one is online... and like I said the most important thing is the games...which both graphically have.

People aren't looking for a enterainment system but a game console. If people wanted a bluray player they can get one at best buy for $99.

The main draw is video games. The pS2 didn't have a Hard Drive but the xbox did. The ps2 had little to any online play yet the xbox did. But they were priced the same....why? Oh yeah...they're video game systems that were graphically the same!!!

Apparrently gamers are forgetting that fact.

Who fuck cares if one has wifi or dont the both offer online.

I'm not telling you that the ps3 is doesnt offer more features...I'm telling you that 360 has an alternative for those features.

And teh 360 has Backwards compablity, a feature the ps3 slim was taken off of. Netflix ( until ps3 gets it...btw you still havent shown me the link to that) counts as a feature.

It's becoming really apparent you're running around in circles.

The thing I love the most is that stupid ad that says the Ps3 Slim does everything. ORLY? Does it do BC and option to install the otehr OS like my 60GB model? No... then does it really do everything?

wow...some people like to ruin threads with bias.
No point of arguing anymore here...

Your reasoning is flawed. There are people that see it this way, but not everyone. In fact, the reasons to buy a console will differ from person to person. This list does not include any of the bigger values makes people buy a console.

Features are all well and good, but VALUES are what sells the product.

^what's the alternative on the 360 for Blu-ray , Wifi and Free online that won't cost me extra MONEY ?

Around the Network

The 360 arcade is priced $200, and the PRO priced $300... Now you'll get double the HDD for the same price ($300 for Elite) ...so what's so special about that? Was anybody waiting a HDD upgrade to jump on the 360 ?

What you need to understand is that not everyone cares for the same thing. To you, these features might be what you value. Other people value different things. That could be to have their friends on the same network, enjoying the look of the console, the console appears to have games that appeal to them, that it gives them a higher status... everyone has different values. A list such as this, that only focuses on the features, is therefore flawed in its ability to predict consumer behaviour.

For example, the main values of the Wii is fun, easy and that it's great to play with friends. It's something you can always drag out when you have a couple of people over.

The main value of the PS3 is that it is advanced and powerful.

The main value of the xbox is... well, I never quite figured this one out. Not to say that the values aren't there, just that I haven't been able to put my finger on them so far. Online play, is a big one, I think.

@bigdom ... about Netflix looking into PS3.

You may not care about Blu-ray, but you're certainly not everybody.

@killergran I know what you mean. But money talks.

Netflix, broadband internet through an ethernet cord( you heard of that right?) and a better online service ( btw Xbox Live Silver is free)

You realized they're phasing out the pro model right?

What's the point of going from 80GB to 120GB when they're canceling out BC completely( to my knowledge the 80Gb has some) and other os from the model?

I rather get the 80GB...oh wait...their phasing that out too, right?

( btw, sorry slimebeast for messing ur thread like this, I just dislike blanated fanboyism)
