@dsolitude How many 360s have been sold at $200 I wonder? All xbox fans claim the Pro model sells more at $300....so obviously $300 is not that high now is it? Why would anyone buy a $300 X360, next to a $300 Blu-ray PS3? You said it yourself, there's no brand loyalty, who cares about ONE game named HALO? And you mentioned COD...guess what? It's on the PS3 and you can play it ONLINE FOR FREE OUT OF THE BOX. I don't think Slimebeast is overpredicting here at all.

Gears

Though I agree mostly ( I still think sept is alittle low on both consoels) with SlimeBeast, dosolitude has a point. Esp. when the 360 has done either on par or better than it did last year so far and in sept of last year it do more than what slimebeast posted for next month and it didn't have a big time exclusive....

People shouldn't stare themselves blind on this years impressive YoY increase X360 numbers, because this Holiday season will most likely mirror 2007 - which PS3 won thanks to the introduction of the 40GB at $399. And similarly the X360 had a big price cut for Holiday 2008 (Arcade dropped from $279 to $199, while PS3 dropped nothing).

So far two seasons in the row have shown that Fall price cuts completely change the sales dynamics and momentum for the Holidays.

And if Halo:ODSt wasn't coming out next month, I would agree.....but I feel like numbers shouldn't drop from one year where there's werent any good exclusives to another where there's antcipated one. Yes it won't sell as many has Halo 3 did when it came out, but it will move systems, probably making it on par with last year maybe slighty more.....

Like I said I agree with the rest of ur chart but as long as ODST is still in Sept, I dont just agree with that month. We have seen that one game can  move systems (even if the rival system has a price drop.)

I still think the numbers are kinda low btw.

I'll say 450,000 for the ps3 and 370,000 for the 360.

My reason why is because the 360 has been either flat or better than last year numbers wise. For it to suddenly drop more than 90k with the release of an anticpated game would be weird.

I also think there's more people waiting for the ps3 slim than you think. I feel that numbers will double compared to last year ( 220,000)

Oh, that's the 'no Natal in Fable 3'. :( That's awkward, I really was convinced they'd try support Natal along with traditional controls.

Anyway, 450k / 370K compared to my 380k / 300k almost makes me wanna adjust my numbers up a lil.

One observation though when comparing month with corresponding months in previous years - NPD numbers have a tendency to jump like they want, randomly. They're very hard to predict, because they probably use every new month for adjustments for previous tracking errors (<--- i dunno if that makes sense). ioi has stated this many times too, that NPD numbers aren't always "real" when looking at indivudal months, because of their method to never adjust past months.

In fact I soo sure I wanna make a bet....

If the 360 doesnt do more than 330,000 ( 60-70,000 a week with 100,000 the last week because of ODST) whoever agrees to the bet can have avatar control for a month.

Gears

Forza

Rare games

Mass Effect ( until ps3 version comes out)

Fable

What were u saying?

Yes the ps3 has bluray

Yes, the ps3 has free ( though flawed) online.

But it doesnt have any BC compared to the 360 and Live has been proven to be worth what you pay for.

Netflix now is handling the HD moveis ( You still got to remember to watch movies you have to buy a bluray )

And the most important thing....the both play games are graphically equal.

So why is the ps3 better than 360 at its pricr point again?

Don't go into the library comparison 'cause you'll only create chaos here. I seriously doubt any of the games you mentioned have enough convincing power besides Gears of War, and the aforementioned HALO. The PS3 also has its exclusives and I won't argue about quantity or quality. Let's just say neither library is enough by itself to win over the audience (as it's been proved by sales). I'm talking about value and price here. Whether you like it or not, the PSN is FREE, and you have to PAY MONEY, DINERO, TO PLAY ONLINE ON XBOX. PERIOD. And Blu-ray is also a plus whether you intend to use it or not, as I explained above, many CASUAL gamers appreciate this feature, they may not be into many games, but they'll dig a console with multi-functionality for a convenient price/size. Also, the PS3 has a VIDEO STORE where you can download HD movies from, and there's been serious talk about Netflix coming to PS3, and it will, but in the meantime, yeah you have both options on the PS3 and you DON'T HAVE TO PAY MONEY, DINERO TO M$ TO GET IT.

Link cuz i haven't anything about it since late last year. Again, so what? MS has a video store too ( which is actually better because so far I mostly only see sony and some warner bros  movies on the ps store) and you can download HD movies, what's your point about that.

So one thing....online. It's been proven that Xbox Live is the better more intregated online service. Yes you have to pay money to play online, but it's been seen better than the ps3's online service. You get what you pay for right? I rather have a good service than an unstable one. Luckily I have both ( as in I have bothe systems)

Btw the way Fable 2 was one of teh hottest games last year so i don't know what you're talking about. Then again maybe your fanboy mind might think otherwise.

I know, I'm setting one up today lol.

Edit: Actually instead...The mods can ban me for a month.... but of course if I win they have to do the same to the person who accepts the bet.

Im not being silly at all, im being realistic of what Natal is supposed to be.

Controler-free.

not exactly true.  some games maybe, but microsoft has said that they see tons of uses with controller/natal dual use.  Like the example of somebody playing a shooter game but using their head to look around instead of the controller.  Microsoft never said every natal game will be controller free.  In fact, I bet most games that use natal will be a hybrid use with the 360 controller.

You are being silly

Now that sounds quite interesting.
