Am I reading too much into this little throw away comment from ioi.... ? 

It caught my attention too but until the slim actually lanuches then no one can really know what the PS3 sales have done. Pehaps they haven't dramitically increased this week but I wouldn't really expect them to yet (why but a fat when you can get a slim with a bigger HDD).

Well I expect a rise as the final phat PS3s sell out for good. A lot of places are completely sold out of PS3s till Sept. 1st now.

Yes so do I, just not a 'skyrocketing' increase which is the only thing I can see that ioi's comment could relate to as the slim hasn't launched yet.

This is great news if come true but I would rather have a 120 gb GT5 bundle at a lower price.

Anyway its an excellent bundle!

1) They're aiming for profitability and still losing at 299USD. It makes ZERO sense to bundle the game at 299... if anything it will be a 399 bundle...

2) If you bought 120GB for 299, the game for 60 that's 360$. Adding on a 320Gb HDD to the bill or even 250 wouldn't be cheaper that this bundle.

Yeah, better to have too much space than not enough, especially if PS2 games hit the service. I'm getting ready to put a 500GB drive in mine.

this is a given but sony probably waiting to retire the ps2 to do it.

That is my theory as well. PS2 games on PSN just seems too lucrative for them to pass up.
