250GB PS3 Slim + GT5 Bundle Coming

Forums - Sony Discussion - 250GB PS3 Slim + GT5 Bundle Coming

Sales have already skyrocketed for Sony’s PlayStation 3, ever since the new PS3 Slim’s announcementand $100 price drop on all existing models went into effect. If this information of a rumored bundle is indeed true, Sony is out for blood in the console wars and looking to steal the #1 Holiday Season sales spot.

While speaking with a source close to Sony, we have received word that Sony is not only prepping Gran Turismo 5 for the holiday season, but it will be bundled with a 250GB PS3 slim for the price of $399. Along with Gran Turismo 5 and the 250GB PS3, we’ve been told to expect a voucher to some type of downloadable game, to help introduce new PS3 owners to the PlayStation Store, and PlayStation Network. Though as to which downloadable game is to be included is still up in the air.

This information doesn’t come from our regular source, but given how the previous “premium” PS3 bundle featured another flagship PS3 title, larger HDD, and a voucher for the downloadable game Pain, this proposed bundle certainly sounds feasible. Especially after the recent filings of the 250GB PS3 Slim being unveiled and the Gamescom Gran Turismo 5 brochure claiming a Q4 2009 release.

Having a lower priced standalone 120GB PS3 slim, paired with a “premium” 250GB PS3 slim/GT5 bundle would certainly stir up sales come this holiday season.

Since we don’t expect any confirmation for quite some time, please chalk this up as a rumor for the time being. Also our source suggested that this bundle will only be available if Gran Turismo 5 does indeed release during the planned Q4 2009 window. We will be sure to keep you up-to-date if anything else is uncovered.

Tell me what you guys think. I think Sony will own the Holiday Season in Europe and Japan, but North America is still debatable.

250GB HDD on a console? Why? I certainly don't need that, I store all my movies, TV shows and music on my PC. Its a cool prospect and its fun that they're kicking up some dust but I don't think anyone besides the most hardcore PS3 and/or Sony fans will bite and swallow that one.

End of 2016 hardware sales:

Wii U: 15 million. PS4: 54 million. One: 30 million. 3DS: 64.8 million. PSVita: 15.2 million.

I put a 320GB drive into my PS3.

So much freedom, can keep trailers, demos, have all the optional installs I want, can save the videos from vidzone so do not need stream them everytime, music, PSN games.

If PS2 games for the PS Store ever happen that space will find good use.

So you don't need to delete game data from installs. I think 250gigs takes care of that all. I know I have a 60giger and I wish I had more space cause I only have about 4 games of space left before I have to start deleting installs. Anyway, a 400 dollar Ps3 250 gig slim with GT5 is definatly a good deal and would be profitable.

Yeah, better to have too much space than not enough, especially if PS2 games hit the service. I'm getting ready to put a 500GB drive in mine.

this bundle is a killer, I think Sony will also Bundle FFXIII with the 250GB in Japan, in Europe it will be GT5, in NA it will either be Killzone 2 or Uncharted 2, or Eye Pet

I only have a 40 gig, and I always have to delete stuff.... 250 gig would be nice

that amount of space is vital for playtv
