Forums - Microsoft Discussion - MS Don't denie 54.2% failure rate is true.

A spokesperson for Redmond pointed to its superior entertainment value, its "best warranty in the industry" and its "constantly improving design, manufacture, and performance." At no point is there a dispute or even direct reference to the findings, which is really something that could've helped public perception on a nagging issue.

Wow! Microsoft's set rules for not responding to rumors has been followed yet again... dancing around the issue is the only thing you'll ever get from Microsoft even if this is crazy high... it's kind of like trying to bait them into telling you what the real number is... it's not happening

It's not so much a rumor. It's the results of a survey that was conducted by Game Informer. Because it was sample data, it didn't really guarantee anything was overly accurate and I don't think Game Informer intended it to sound like it was. It was just a simple survey I think.

but the intertr0n looks at it that way... it's kind of like talking to your girl about how many men she slepped with and she wont say so you say... "I heard you slepped with 60 guys" and she's like "Fuck no it was only 30"

MS constantly improving hardware design, manufacture and performance one percentile at a time. It just 3 years ago that they were at 68% percent and now they are only at 54%, that's 14% after 3 years. I bet fat princess gets laid more frequently than MS updates the 360's failure rate problem.

I don't think it's a learning experience for MS at all. It's not like they didn't know this was going to happen, they had to see it coming because they absolutely rushed it onto the market, these things don't test themselves. MS rushed it on purpose and they were better off doing that anyway because they were the first out of the gate so there's no telling if they will do it again with the amount of steam PS3 is going to be gathering. Point is you can't learn something you already know.

I don't think it's Microsoft's policy to shoot themselves in the head even if the source of the survey was reliable. Which it isn't so if someone would ever ask it to Microsoft then they would probably cal it false and mention the 30% failure rate form the more reliable studie. On top fo that they could add that the failure rate is higher in the older models and claim that the failure rate of the current model is the same as that of a PS3 and Wii. It's all about how you look at it and as long as Microsoft doesn't say anything stupid like admitting to the 54% then it won't effect sales more then it has at this point. But it does make you wonder how succesful the 360 would have been without PROD.

The fail-rate of all 360's put together probably are around 54%  But the fail rate of the new 360 models are way way lowere.  Probably around 10%

And then there's that little thing called 3 year warrenty and such.  So should you worry about it? the answer to that is no.
