Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Will Nintendo make Link Right handed again for the Next Wii Zelda Game?

Now with motion plus 1:1 and a new Zelda in the work, will Nintendo once again make Link Right handed like the mirrored Twilight Princess GC port?

One of Link defining signature is that he is left handed with his shield in his right hand. It would be weird seeing him Right handed.

In, Twilight Princess..It is kind of OK because it is not a full Wii game.just a port of the GC version. The wiimote really has no 1:1 movement or really needed for that game. But the next Zelda on Wii, 1:1 will be the key to the game.

Unfortunately, because the majority of the poupluation is Right Handed, I think Link will be holding his sword in his right hand for the next Zelda.

What do you guys think. Does this bother you.

Why can't he be left handed, though? Just detect the movement and translate it accordingly.

Kimi wa ne tashika ni ano toki watashi no soba ni ita

Itsudatte itsudatte itsudatte

Sugu yoko de waratteita

Nakushitemo torimodosu kimi wo

I will never leave you

This is actually a pretty interesting question. I've never thought about it.

I'd say let the player decide at the start if Link is left or right handed.

This may lend itself well to the idea that there is a lineage of Link's and Zeldas, they aren't all the same people. So in that sense I guess you could make them left or right handed, assuming that the next game is not a direct sequel to anything.

since there is technically a different link in each game, I'm sure it's not too much of a stretch to imagine that 1 of link's kin would be right handed.

Doesn't really bother me a whole lot, but I do hope they at least include the option to make him left handed. Twilight Princess felt a little bit odd at times.

In 1:1 movement, it will not work. Let say, you do a crossed slash attack with your right hand from left to right, it will not translate well if your character on screen, Link, is doing the opposite with his left hand. Everting will be out of placed.

they'll simply have to let players choose.
there will certainly be an option to decide whether Link is right-handed or left-handed at the beginning of the game in case the player prefers to use his or her left hand.

I don't see what the big deal is. I never even noticed it was changed in Twilight Princess until I read it on the internet. Couldn't care less really.

"Now, a fun game should always be easy to understand - you should be able to take one look at it and know what you have to do straight away. It should be so well constructed that you can tell at a glance what your goal is and, even if you don’t succeed, you’ll blame yourself rather than the game. Moreover, the people standing around watching the game have also got to be able to enjoy it." - Shiggy

I honestly don't think it matters that much.

It would be nice if there were an option. (as long as it doesn't mirror the world!) XD
