Forums - Gaming Discussion - Get to know what does Microsoft have to say about the PS3 Slim

“Consumers, while looking at price as a purchase consideration, are after an experience that comes from getting their hands on compelling content when weighing up the best value option. Starting at $299, there’s a lot of great content exclusively on Xbox 360. Check out our exclusive games (like Halo ODST, Forza 3, Lips Number One Hits, Left for Dead 2, GTAIV Episode 2 and Shadow Complex to name a few), Xbox Movies on Demand, Facebook & Twitter. It’s all arriving before Christmas this year and gives our consumers even more reasons to use their console. We’re focused on extending the life of the console through the games and entertainment we deliver – not just the console hardware. It’s the reason why in 2009 we’re the fastest growing console in Australia.”

You do realise that more people found better value with the Xbox 360 than PS3 so far, right? Even if you exclude the number of people who bought the 360 before the PS3 you can still say that more people considered the Xbox 360 worth it, and thats with the Playstations stronger brand influencing those who don't have an opinion or on the edge between the two consoles.

What they say can therefore be considered 100% true if taken as an average of the userbase between both systems.

Tease.

they didn't find better value with the 360,they just found it cheaper and bought it.For the overall value for the price as Sony has been saying for the past 3 years,PS3 is still better than the 360

@Squillam

It looks like the Japanese have found more value with PS3 by a rate very close to 3 to 1. What do you think accounts for the extra value they have found in PS3 that people in Americas and Others haven't?

Everybody in this industry talked about value for a long time, so whats the deal? Sony did this for the last three years. Look at this silly chart they published with the features and prices added. Now MS is saying: "We offer a good value" and you are like "LOL the noobz talking about value!"

The reaction should be "oh nooooes we are dooooomed" according to you, right?

Imagine not having GamePass on your console...

Neither console is better now, it's all about personal preferences (mainly towards games and genres). Up to a few days ago Microsoft had the edge when it comes to prices, they know it made the difference and they know it's over now. But I think they are ok with it, and it suprises me that Sony didn't react sooner. The gap between the two is big now, Microsoft can afford to let Sony outsell them for a while. The value argument is just a way to stay in the spotlight without actually having news. Microsoft gave it all they got and they are just resting and getting the profits of their labor and now it's Sony turn to give it all they got. This holiday season will belong to the PS3, no doubt about it (hardware sales wise). The question is, can either really make a difference and leave the other in the dust? Only their motion controllers can really do anythign significant for them, they better save up resources for that now.

Value is a ratio of cost vs benefit.

The PS3 has not been better value and the market says so.

From pure technological point of view PS3 wins mainly because of BD, but when you add everything else its up to what you like.

@Casper
I find it too quite odd that japanese buy more japanese products than other products.... Not... :)

value is not cost/benefit !

value = benefit

Xbox360 has a better value/price ratio compared to PS3
that is what the sales say.

Weither Xbox360 has better value than PS3 has still to be proven

what is sure : Xbox360 is monstruously cheaper than PS3 (139 euros sku avaibale in France last Xmas)

Considering PS3/360 sales are still so close, it suggests : PS3 has a better value IMO ...
