Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Namco: Wii can't handle Tekken 6, PSP can.

“No, it will not [release on Wii]. The hardware of the Nintendo is less than that of the other next-gen game consoles and the gameplay is very different.” – Katsuhiro Harada, producer of Tekken 6

Lol, yet there's a PSP version. I love how these companies have to lie to hide their Wii hate.

Bets with Conegamer:

Pandora's Tower will have an opening week of less than 37k in Japan. (Won!)
Pandora's Tower will sell less than 100k lifetime in Japan.
Stakes: 1 week of avatar control for each one.

It's not like Soul Calibur got a normal Wii iteration either. What did you honestly expect from the same company.

I think they mean they would rather not port it, than port a PSP game. The HD version would be too much work to port I am assuming they mean. Which I doubt the HD version wouldn't be able to be ported, and if done right a port of the PSP version could come out nice(just look Silent Hill, though that is more of a Wii>PSP/PS2 port.)

EDIT: I just ran the article through various translators, and the concerns about "gameplay" most likely refer to the Wiimote.

I wonder how Capcom got around this quandary! /sark

Wii's D-Pad is horrific, so yes, Tekken would work much better on PSP than the Wii.

The control excuse MIGHT have been be valid if there weren't many other controller options out there, but the Hardware one is terrible, terrible. Worst excuse this gen when they are making a PSP version. Lame company is lame.

The PSP isn't much better. At least the Wii has a "real" analog stick to work with. Having said that, tekken is a series that started out(and imo opinion peaked) on the PS1, I'm sure they can make it work. This is unless you are talking about using the Wiimote horizontally, which imo wouldn't work at all due to lack of input methods. I'm sure there would be classic controller support as well, like most sane developers would do.

It isn't like there aren't options.
