Forums - Sony Discussion - Playing PS2 games in the future

I know I'm typically a bit critical of the PS3, but I still ADORE the PS2. That said, I'm a little curious as to how we'll play PS2 games in the near future. Sony has made it clear that PS2 BC is NOT coming back to the PS3. How much longer will they make the PS2? I know it's still a cash cow for them, but they have to stop some time, right? Do you think it'll be months or years? And after the PS2 is discontinued, how do those (believe me, there WILL be those who will not have purchased a PS2) who don't have a PS2 play PS2 games?

Persona 3 FES also thinking of playing through Silent Hill 1.

It's Sony. They may say BC is never coming back but they'll give it to us in 6 months or so. As for the PS2, I would guess the first half of 2011 will be the end of it.

I dunno, but I find it hard to believe they won't reinstate backwards compatibility after the PS2 is discontinued. PS2 games on PSN = free monies.

I believe that the PS2 will outlive the PSOne [1995-2006]

Battlefield Bad Company 2 > Modern Warfare 2

ok..guys...of course BC is commin back, there keeping focused on current gen titles

Probably they will be playable on PS4.

same way people play SNES games today, buy a ps2 and keep it

in the future. sony may create a new gene psp which can play all ps2 games

How about just buying a ps2? I think we don't need bc.
