Everything the WWE does that doesn't involve Sting makes me feel apathetic right now.

Even Taker and Lesnar aren't making me feel all that engaged. Probably because the WWE refuses to keep a consistent story line going, or if they do, it never pushes the envelope, or if it starts to push the envelope they drop it.

There's never any finality any more, just obscure segues.

Cena is good in the ring.  I've been saying that since they gave him a bit of freedom against Punk.  Still, I think it's valid to say that he almost never elevates his opponent, which is what separates him from the best.  He has bad matches against bad opponents, good matches against good opponents.  I know people have been talking about Cena for Wrestler of the Year but what makes me uncomfortable with that is that I never once thought, in any of those matches you mentioned, that he had the best performance.  I'm not blaming him for that, not at all, as it was really his job to let the others showcase their skills, but that doesn't really change anything.

It's almost like when a particular actor gets a role intended to help them win an Oscar.  Why has Cena been having the best matches in the WWE week after week?  Who else has had that much dedicated time in the ring?  Who else has had that calibur of opponents?  What if we did the same thing with Orton?  What if we did the same thing with Rollins?  

That's not really the point, though.  I've liked the open challenges, as well.  The thing is, nothing changes.  Owens beat him once?  Eh, Cena still won.  Owens hit that glass ceiling we call John Cena, now it's time to settle into the mid-card.

I'm just tired of that cycle.  The WWE actually has an absolute ton of talent.  Why is most of it in a perpetual holding pattern while Cena, at guy I've seen a million times, gets more time each week than most of the remainder of the roster combined?

The whole sequence was John Cena saying the US belt is above the HWC because HE is the one holding it.  It made Rollins look like nothing.

The proper thing to do in this situation would be to have Rollins destroy Cena, without help, and "injure" him to the point that he could win clean.  That would make him look strong and dangerous, which would give him some much needed credibility as the supposed top heel.  

But ratings are down and supposedly Cena's merch sales have fallen.  I think we know what that means.

Thats just idiotic. They cant erase Hogan from wrestling! 

It's everything. There are apparently tons of tapes and transcripts, including the sex tape(s) and racial tirade, that show Hogan in a bad light. Supposedly sealed but we know what that's worth when the rags are waving checks in front of people. It's all going to come out and the WWE knows it. They also know a lot more about what is on those tapes than we do, without doubt.

Of course, I doubt Vince McMahon is any better but he's definitely smarter.

On the bright side, all will be forgiven when Hogan dies and the WWE judges it's safe to start making money off the Hulk Hogan name again. The Ultimate Warrior was kind of an awful person, too, but you'd never know it from the way the WWE markets him now.

Did anyone watch the ROH Championship match between Lethal and Strong?

--SPOILERS--, though I doubt anyone much cares about being spoiled for an ROH match.

I admit that I only watched half the match. Why only half when I think both Lethal and Strong are excellent in the ring? Because I was bored to tears by that point and turned off the feed.

The outcome of the match, if you're wondering, was a 60 minute draw. Yes, just like they used to have in the old days. Now, I don't necessarily have a problem with that--it's not like I knew it would be a 60 minute match when I turned it off after 30 minutes--but the pace simply did not keep me interested.

I know it was incredibly hot, and I now realize that both guys were trying to conserve energy, but I swear that Lethal rolled to the outside every single time he took some offense from Strong. He'd roll out, Strong would follow, they'd walk around the ring throwing each other into the barricades, then they'd make it back into the ring right before being counted out. Then Lethal would get knocked out again and they'd repeat the whole process. The flip side would be when Strong would eat some offense and Lethal would throw him out so his goons could take some cheap shots, which also happened many times.

Inside the ring wasn't a lot better, as they spent a huge amount of time simply trading chops.

I'm sure the stretch run was a LOT more entertaining, which is what everyone is saying, but when the first 30 or 40 minutes of your match is boring, who cares? They weren't prepared to entertain the crowd for a solid hour. I don't even blame the wrestlers, as they rarely if ever have to perform hour-long matches in this day and age, but whomever booked this should have been aware of that.
