Sting at comic con alongside Hogan and Bryan......... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SHdLD_VHBzk

How long to go now before he debuts in WWE?

Hopefully before he's too old to have a decent feud.  I wish we could have gotten him in his prime.

Indeed..... a prime Sting in WWE would have been fantastic.

Just found this little extra golden nugget.............. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P5ndlOJ9tRo

As far as Sting goes, I obviously haven't seen him wrestle in awhile but the last match of his I did catch, against Bobby Roode last year, was quite good.  Most of his spots don't need precision, anyway, just power and enthusiasm.  Of course, Roode is really, really good, which always helps.  Still, I think Sting could peform well in the ring, as he appears to be in good shape.  I'd love to see him turn heel and lead his own stable, though.

In G1 Climax news, nights 2 and 3 were solid but not great, so I didn't post any of the matches.  It's all about the match-ups.  Night 4, however, had an awesome card.

G1 Climax 24 Block A Match Hiroshi Tanahashi vs. Katsuyori Shibata  --  This was good.  This was really, really good.  It's kind of the epitome of what I want with a professional wrestling match.  Two guys who seemingly dislike each other having a match where you don't know who is going to win, where both guys leave exhausted regardless of the outcome, and where you can't help but think that the next match they have is going to be even better.  This is a tournament match, after all, even if it felt like more.  These guys could easily go much longer and I hope it happens.

The backstory here is that Tanahashi legitimately buried Shibata in his autobiography.  Now, when I say buried, this is still Japan, so it was relatively polite, but the heart of it wasn't kind to Shibata.  Tanahashi had negative things to say about Shibata's style, the way he left NJPW when it was down, and his attitude about pro wrestling.  They've been teasing tension between the two for awhile without ever having them feud, which I think is smart.  I like that slow build.  Even during the introduction, when Shibata stood in the middle of the ring like it was his and Tanahashi simply ignored him, it felt a lot more real than if they'd started jawing right away.

Shibata reminds me a bit of Arn Anderson.  He's very stiff and physical and he has this deliberate style where he pauses after he delivers a move.  It makes it feel like he's in control.  Tanahashi is more like a Rock or a Jericho, in that he's always aware of the crowd and that his job is to entertain.  He has some great facial expression and he's very good at putting other guys over.  He makes Shibata look dangerous in this match, even selling in the interview area by falling to his hands and knees, while Shibata did an excellent job of selling an injured leg from Tanahashi's focused offense.

G1 Climax 24 Block A Match Tomoaki Honma vs. Tomohiro Ishii  --  This was so much fun.  The New Japan crowds LOVE Honma and I can see why.  He's really good, he's entertaining, and he's like the consumate underdog.  They pop every time he kicks out or goes for a pin.  I also love how Ishii has been selling a neck/shoulder injury since the very first match of the tournament when he took a DDT on the apron.  The chop battle these two had in the middle of the ring was AWESOME.  Seriously, the WWE NEEDS to learn how to have matches like this with mid-carders.  It was every bit as hot as anything you'll see from the main event guys.  When you make your mid-card guys look great, you elevate the entire company, damn it.

G1 Climax 24 Block B Match AJ Styles vs. Tetsuya Naito  --  I enjoyed this quite a bit.  Not just because it had two really talented wrestlers but also because the psychology was so good.  First, Naito mocked AJ by performing his moves, which ticked off AJ.  This prompted AJ to turn full-heel mode and go after the head injury Naito received in his last match when he got busted open by a chair shot.  It was bleeding freely even before he ripped the bandage off.  The match was mostly AJ going after Naito's head and cutting off Naito's comeback attempts, sometimes with underhanded moves.  Really well booked.

Oh man you should see his matches against Magnus at earlier this year. He couldn't even perform his finishing move the scorpion death lock properly. Well i cant blame him given his age.

I'm curious what's going to happen with Kofi, Big E, and Xavier Woods. Hope it's a Nation 2.0 angle. I was hoping WWE would do this years ago with Booker T as the leader and Shelton Benjamin, Mark Henry, and Cryme Tyme.

Now get Titus O'Neal in on this!

They had to do something with those guys.  It was either that or have them get pummeled by Rusev every week.

Sadly, I don't much coming out of this because I think that Vince is a closet racist.  I know that some of you guys will say... But the Rock... Let's face it...  He doesn't really look black.  And I know that some of you will say ...But Booker T... Yeah... He became champion eventually after doing things like literally getting floured white by Stone Cold Steve Austin during a beatdown in a grocery store.  WWF had Ron Simmons, one of the greatest wrestlers of his era, and did he get the belt? No.  He headed a racist faction and then was one of the Undertakers underlings.  Bradhaw eventually became champion but did he?  Hmmm.  Another thing is black wrestlers can't just be wrestlers in the WWE.  They have to be the angry black man, or rap, or be sexual chocolate, or have back up dancers, or be a pimp.  Notice how many WWE wrestlers that are black have recently turned up in TNA?  Expect JTG to show up soon.

I'm not even black and all of this stuff pisses me off.

My friend and I have had this discussion (and yeah, I AM black).  I'm a huge wrestling fan but it didn't take long to realize that a black guy wasn't ever going to hold the WWE championship.  The WCW/World Championship?  Sure.  Give it to Booker T.  The ECW belt?  Sure.  Give it to Lashley.  IC belt, tag team, European, etc.?  Sure.  But the precious WWE belt?  Not gonna happen.  And yeah, the Rock is half Samoan/half Black but like you said, most people can't even see it.  I saw Ron Killings kick all kinds of ass in TNA.  Then he came back to WWE and become a horrible rapper or talk to "Little Jimmy".

I still enjoy the show quite a bit but we know Vince.

I remember I was watching Royal Rumble with a few friends.  One of them was black.  When Booker T came out he, he started attacking another black guy (Can't remember the wrestler, probably Shelton) and we were like "Why are they fighting?  They're black, they should work together".  My friend's answer? "Booker knows, only one black man in the ring at a time and he wants his spot."

The Little Jimmy worked pretty slick when he starting beating the crap out of people cause Little Jimmy told him to.  To be fair though, WWE buries anybody who didn't start in WWE.

On another note: Spike didn't renew TNA's t.v. deal.  Now the countdown to doom begins.

I think R Truth did start with WWE, though.  He was Road Dogg's partner K-Kwik....unless he did something before that.  I thought he had awesome moves back then but just never got a chance to use them.  Then he went to TNA.

Speaking of TNA, I got tired of it years ago but lately, I've been enjoying it.  Hate to see them go.

You're right, I forgot he was K-Kwik!  Then he went into TNA to part form the Voodoo Kin Mafia.  That story with Konnan getting jealous of Billy Gun was a bit generic.

Fuck I freaking loved the 3 Live Crew stable.

I'm gonna be honest here.  I got home from work, turned on RAW, saw the continuation of the Fandango/Layla/Summer Rae storline, and turned it off.

Seriously, goddamn, I don't give a rat's ass about that.  Killed my interest right away.  So, yeah, I don't know what happened on RAW.

However, R-Truth is someting I'd like to talk about.  He's a good example of why I'm only a partial fan of the WWE.

First, though, I think I should talk about why I do keep checking up on the WWE.  The simple fact is, they have a crazy amount of talent.  Cesaro, Ziggler, Ambrose, Rollins, and Brian on the main roster?  El Generico, PAC, Devitt, Callihan, and Kenta on NXT?  Hell yeah.  That's world class.  The reason I keep watching is that I keep hoping one of these guys will be allowed to shine.  It's pretty much that simple.

Now, on to a few of the reasons why I don't have a very high opinion of the WWE.

I touched on this a little in one of my G1 Climax posts.  I know that almost no one reads them so I'll say it again: New Japan is fun to watch because they have a mid-card that isn't portrayed as being garbage.  In fact, in the G1 tournament already, ALL the top guys have lost cleanly to guys who aren't in the Heavyweight Title picture.  The way it's set up over there, the best of the mid-card is considered to be half a level below the top dogs, at the most, with the idea that, on any given night, ANYONE can beat ANYONE.  THAT is why you end up with re-matches, to see who is really the best, because it's so close.  On the other hand, in the WWE, you have guys like Cena, who are shown as being like EIGHT HUNDRED LEVELS above the best of the mid-card.  Yeah, that lets you pretend they're super-heroes but it also devalues the hell out of the rest of your roster.

That brings me to R-Truth.  The guy was, with the Little Jimmy gimmick, super over with the audience.  Honestly, I don't even mind that Cena beat him in their feud, but then they had Cena SQUASH him on RAW to end the feud.  I mean, why?  What the hell does that accomplish?  Cena doesn't need to be fucking over.  He won the damn feud, for cat's sake.  They could easily have dropped R-Truth down a notch and let him fight for the IC belt.  Instead, they make him into a joke.  It was such a waste.  Even beyond that, the R-Truth/Miz thing was pretty awesome.  They were the Shield before the Shield.  Why even rip that apart almost as soon as it started?

As someone who also remembers Ron Killings being damn good, I think it's a shame that he's probably done about the best in the WWE that they were ever going to allow him to do.
