Forums - General Discussion - James Camerons AVATAR trailer released

The trailer can be seen here http://www.apple.com/trailers/fox/avatar/

Some of the graphics seemed pretty impressive, but I don't think its living up to the hype atm. But I wont judge until I see the movie in imax as its suppose to be seen.

Anyway, even if the cgi is a dissapointment it should be an above avergage film considering Camerons past films.

I didn't know anything about the movie until E3 and this trailer. I don't see what hype you're talking about!

I loved the trailer. Looks very sci-fi-ish, so it should be good!

Random game thought :
Why is Bionic Commando Rearmed 2 getting so much hate? We finally get a real game and they're not even satisfied... I'm starting to hate the gaming community so f****** much...

Watch my insane gameplay videos on my YouTube page!

Its been pretty hyped in film industry circles etc. Not in general.

Considering how expensive it is they've left the advertising a bit late. But yeah, most of Camerons films have been great so it should be worth a watch.

It'll be interesting to see a film designed around 3d cinemas from the ground up. Since his last film was titanic this will be one to watch.

Well it crashed the Apple website last night. I loved it and despite the SW prequel vibe i got at certain points. Its James Cameron, the guy knows how to entertain and make believable characters.

“When we make some new announcement and if there is no positive initial reaction from the market, I try to think of it as a good sign because that can be interpreted as people reacting to something groundbreaking. ...if the employees were always minding themselves to do whatever the market is requiring at any moment, and if they were always focusing on something we can sell right now for the short term, it would be very limiting. We are trying to think outside the box.” - Satoru Iwata - This is why corporate multinationals will never truly understand, or risk doing, what Nintendo does.

Oh I don't think we should worry about it being a bad movie. But since this is his first film since Titanic he's going to be under a lot of pressure for it to succeed.

Well, he also hasn't done a lot since Titanic ... This isn't meant to be negative of him or anything, just an observation

This will have to be watched in IMAX 3D. There is no other way to watch this film when it comes out! 2D will not do it justice!

Cameron has developed 3D filming techniques since Titanic and this film takes full advantage of it. No cheesy moments of something bursting out of the screen into the audience much more a layered world.

I'm not sure it will live up to the hype but it is a must see movie experience!

Visuals are fantastic, but it's horribly clichéd with those panther looking primitive bushmen people going up against your typical high tech colonialists.

Small good guys versus huge bad guys.

Ewoks vs Stormtroopers. *yawn*

I hope the 3-D makes up for the very cartoon like CGI it has.

It does seem pretty generic narrative wise. Which is why I think they're pushing the cgi/3d experience so much.

But I wont judge the story until I see it. Things that aren't new can still be fresh, its all about how its told.
