Forums - Sony Discussion - Penny Arcade on the PS3 slim

http://www.penny-arcade.com/

I find that a bit hard but it makes me laugh.

"Reporters can't seem to decide if the three hundred dollar PS3 Slim is awesome or too awesome, when it's actually a barbed black crown of shame, and that's more or less the end of the discussion.

It can't be seen as anything but a concession to a market that has consistently chosen their competitor's products - an act of contrition, the purest evidence possible that this brand is no longer sufficient to sway consumers.

There is an optional stand available that allows you to stand the system vertically, on its side - making the system a literal tombstone, as well as a figurative one."

Btw, the official stand is a 25€ piece of plastic apparently : http://www.crunchgear.com/2009/08/19/the-ps3-slim-vertical-stand-will-cost-25/

Evan Wells (Uncharted 2): I think the differences that you see between any two games has much more to do with the developer than whether it’s on the Xbox or PS3.

It's been quite obvious Microsoft has a lot of 'friends' in the media biz, Cnet, Forbes, and now this.  You can expect to hear all good things about windows 7 when it launches this fall, especially from Cnet (we have haven't we so far.)

When i loaded up Google news today,  The two stories representing the PS3 slim were one about how you should choose a blu-ray laptop over a ps3(HUH??), and another saying it was too little too late for sony.  None of the top stories actually gave a fair representation of what Sony presented or what the REAL NEWS STORY they were supposed to be covering was.  It was clear to me they had succeeded in dampening the excitement and media impact on the announcement.  For crying out loud Sony announced a $299 PS3 and a redesigned slim model, how is that a negative?

I don't know if they are serious or joking

Hopefully joking. Or maybe no one remembers when the PS3 was outselling the 360 with a much higher price tag. Now that such a huge disparity in price is gone anyone would be foolish to call it a gravestone or say that it's best days are behind. Playstation has a very bright future.

Nobody says it is negative. But if you consider the past success of the playsation brand, nobody would have imagined that they would need to create a slim version, so early,to try to catch up.

Inevitably, this is conflicting with other trends on the market (see also the fight between the PSP and the iPhone).
