Looking through threads, it seems like a lot of users have ideas for features they would like to be implemented on the website.  I figured I would make a thread dedicated to these ideas.  (If this is a duplicate thread, sorry about that and please delete it, but I couldn't find  it on the first 5 pages or with a search).

So if you have any suggestions of things, that you think would make the site more enjoyable for existing users, or new features that you think might attract new visitors put them here.  Also look through other people's suggestions and comment whether you agree/disagree. Maybe someone will come up with something that is helpful to the site creators/designers.

To start here are a few that I've come up with, mainly that I think could increase the websites traffic.

- Achievements/Trophy type system.

    It seems like people really like achievements on 360/PS3, so I think a similar feature could be added to VGChartz.  Goals could be something like, create 3 threads that get more than 100 comments, get %90+ accuracy in prediction league, write a user review that gets 10 user ratings above a  9...etc.   The Achievements would then be put in people's profiles for bragging rights.

- Use VG$ for contests.

   The site has had a few contests giving away free stuff, and I think that is a really great idea, and I read that more contests are being planned in the future.  I think it would be great if the contests were won using are VG%, either buy using them to buy tickets into a drawing, or an auction.  I think this would cause greater excitement for gaining VG$, which would result in more community involvement.

-Countdown to numbers

This is just a simple suggestion, but I think it could really raise anticipations for the release of the numbers.  I think that if there were a countdown timer before the release of weekly sales numbers people would get really excited about the numbers and they would make sure they were on the site when the numbers were coming up. With more people there waiting for the numbers, there would be more conversation about the sales.

I want a search function for the video section. On top of searching by hardware companies you could search by console, game and a just a regular old word search. Maybe have a list of videos for a game linked on it's page.

isint kinda impossibkle to have a countdown for numbers? I alwasy figured we posted them as we got them, like usually we get them on a certain day and for the most part its consitent but every so often we dont

It could be, I'm not sure how long after he gets the numbers from all the sources it takes to the compile the data and then post it. It probably would at least be very difficult to have it countdown to the seconds, but maybe there could be a countdown by days until when he normally gets the data, and after he gets it, change the countdown to hours, however long it normally takes to compile and post the data. Again, I have no idea of what the process is between collecting, compiling and posting, so it might not be possible, but if it is, I think it could increase traffic.  It seemed like today with the live blog, since people knew when it started, traffic grew with anticipation, and I think something similar could happen with a countdown to the release of the data.

We had VGChartz games in the past. I don't know if there were high scores though.

I know. We should reinstate it. And what about a VGChartz Game? The idea died, but I think we should try it.

@countdown idea

People have asked for this multiple times, or even for them to be at a preset date and time, but the only way for either of these to happen is for ioi to intentionally delay the numbers so the timer can tick down. The numbers are posted as soon as he has them finished. While a timer he could kick off a few hours before the numbers are released, if he goes late people will get upset, so he would have to give himself like twice the time he thinks he needs. Either way, you get the numbers slower.
