Forums - Gaming Discussion - 2009 is one of the worst years in gaming in recent years.

I think it has been a pretty good year for Wii owners. It is one of the better years in terms of third party support and from Nintendo we get Wii Sports Resort and NSMB Wii.

look in my sig. There is still a lot to come this year

Do you think that 2009 is a good year, with just 6 nice games in 12 months (4 of them multiplat games)?

Uff ... Thanks God there are other consoles with many more quality choices (90% of them EXCLUSIVES)

Maybe you didn't notice, but those 6 games is only a small selection what's coming in the next 4 months (not 12)

I have no idea what you're talking about in that last sentence. It makes no sense

I dont agree with the generalization of the quality of the year. Depends on the console that you have.

I repeat:

If you own a Wii is a good year (mantains the good performance).

If you own a PS3 is a excellent year (better every year).

If you own a xbox360 is a really bad year (like last year).

Ah now I see it. You're a 360 hater. Well then you won't last long here.

I'm getting four 360 games this holiday season, which is plenty enough to keep me occupied (and more than I got last year). Just because you think it's a bad year, doesn't mean it is for everybody.

themanwithnoname's law: As an America's sales or NPD thread grows longer, the probabilty of the comment "America = World" [sarcasticly] being made approaches 1.

Well Uncharted 2 is still on my list and I'm completely hyped for it. Although... I don't have any idea for 360.. What the hell should I buy for it. I'm thinking MW2 but... I'm still having second thoughts.

If you own a xbox360 is a decent year (not quite as good as last year).

What other huge games will be released to xbox360 untill the end of the year?

And what huge games where released on 360 in the first half of 2009?

Uncharted & The Last of Us

(Definitely, best games of last Gen)

I think so far the year hasn't been very good for some gamers (like me). I have only bought 2 new games this year since nothing else has intrigued me.

^But that is so far, we still have a few months left and several games coming out that I'm interested in so hopefully it won't disappoint.

Ok, i'll admit games like Killzone2, street fighter4, halo wars have all been good. I really like GTA:chinatown wars too. But I have just had allmost no games to buy this year, literally nothing interests me at the moment, most of the good games have been moved to next year, the only people to be really well served this year are console fps fans, but where are all the great rts/rpg/racing/action/puzzle games? Or maybe just after the phenominal awesomeness of 2007 and 2008 I'm just not used to not having like 2 games to buy each month! what do you guys think?

RTS-Admittedly not too much. Looks like that'll be next year with Supreme Commander 2 and Starcraft 2 coming out. If you count tower defense as RTS, then Plants vs. Zombies.

RPG-Don't joke. If you own a DS, you're drowning in RPGs. If you don't I doubt you're much of an RPG fan to begin with. On consoles we have Dragon Age Origins at the end of the year.

Racing-Forza 3, Need For Speed Nitro, Need For Speed Shift, Dirt 2, Gran Turismo Portable and possible Gran Turismo 5.

Action-Too broad a genre. Every year has plenty of action games. This year is no different.

Puzzle-Professor Layton and the Diabolical Box, Rittai Picross(JPN, import it because it's great), Big Bang Mini, Mario vs. Donkey Kong 3, and some other I'm sure.

Tag: Became a freaking mod and a complete douche, coincidentally, at the same time.

Well thats what happens when you dont have all platforms, the PSP has had amazing game releases this year and continues to do so, PS3 is also continuing to have good games, we just had infamous release in MAY.

360 is also expected to have some AAA ip release during the holidays, and to complement that the PS3 is also having a similar line up quality wise in the holidays. The wii has New super mario bros, and the PSP has LBP and a load of more games that I havent tracked to see when they release or what they are.
