Forums - Gaming Discussion - 2009 is one of the worst years in gaming in recent years.

Ok, i'll admit games like Killzone2, street fighter4, halo wars have all been good. I really like GTA:chinatown wars too. But I have just had allmost no games to buy this year, literally nothing interests me at the moment, most of the good games have been moved to next year, the only people to be really well served this year are console fps fans, but where are all the great rts/rpg/racing/action/puzzle games? Or maybe just after the phenominal awesomeness of 2007 and 2008 I'm just not used to not having like 2 games to buy each month! what do you guys think?

2009 is one of the three worst years in the past three years!

ratchet and clank
uncharted 2
forza 3
new super mario bros.
left 4 dead 2
dirt 2
Batman AA
Star Wars FU ultimate sith edition
Assassin's Creed 2
dead space extraction
COD MW2
Demon's Soul
mini ninjas
alapha protocol (keep seeing it as having a Q4 2009 release date but not sure)
borderlands
tekken 6
marvel ultimate alliance 2
NFS shift
halo ODST
maybe GT5

I don't see what the huge problem is? We've already had a pretty good year, and Q1 2010 looks awesome as well.

Modern Warfare 2, Uncharted 2 and Assassin's Creed 2 are going to be amazing, and enough for the whole year anyway

The release calendar is weird, but it is an ok year I believe (not from a sales point of view of course...).

Evan Wells (Uncharted 2): I think the differences that you see between any two games has much more to do with the developer than whether it’s on the Xbox or PS3.

Games take longer to make, all the good studios had their big games out in 2007/2008 and even few in 2006 without anything after that. So it might seem a bit dry right now because all the triple A titles are gone but you just need to look at the less famous tittles and there is still enough to get. WRPG for instance, Bioware delayed Dragon Age and Mass Effect is in development, Bethesda released Fallout 3 in 2008 and hasnt announced their next big title yet. So the big two are busy but 2009 has already brought us Sacred 2 for consoles and is soon bringing us Risen and divinity 2 of which the last has been getting great reviews and offers unique gameplay. I can't comment on the other genres but I guess the same goes for them.

if u own a psp and a ps3 its not that bad

It's been a pretty good year IMO.

quite a number of games are moved to the next year to avoid clash with mw2, a game which i am not even interested, meh >_

Correction : If you own a 360 and a PS3, it is not that bad.
