In that regard I think the game might be overrated (though I haven't played it yet - maybe it IS that awesome).

I'm afraid it may have gotten a huge nostalgia bonus from reviewers and you may have to love Super Metroid and Castlevanis SotN to really appreciate what they did.

Kids today might still might prefer a CoD/MW fps though :)

I'm glad that there are still developers out there that remember the good times and give us something that combines both 2D Metroid and Castlevania style of gameplay. It was a formula that worked at the time, so I don't see what's wrong about giving the game a good rating even today seing as most of these games aged very well.



Random game thought :
Why is Bionic Commando Rearmed 2 getting so much hate? We finally get a real game and they're not even satisfied... I'm starting to hate the gaming community so f****** much...

Strangely enough this was the one thing from E3 that made me jealous of not having my 360 anymore....and Splinter Cell.

This game looks so badass.

It basically Metroid minus any creativity, art style, and stigma breaking protanganist.

It replaces classic sci-fi design for the modern 'hardcore' demographic with guns and a tough meaningless white (anti) hero.
