Its called offering more for less...it matters down the road.

To each his own, but I'm sure the 120 gig HDD, HDMI cables, and 2 games would've been more than enough to understand that extra $199. |
True to each his own. But the Xbox360 Elite im referring to didnt come with any games for the price of $399, that extra $199 is just the HDD and HDMI wires (which i think would be better spent on another 360 Arcade..but thats just me). With two games is more understandable.

Will be a good price cut, but I don't think it will have much of an impact unless those games are extremely good.
If we take this as evidence, European retailers have been cutting the PS3's price by 100 euros (or more) for months...

I think it was this plus Arcade boxes no longer having Pros listed on them.
Its nice that we finally have one of the machines from the big three completely below the launch price of its predecessor now
Launch:
Xbox/PS2 - $300
GC - $200
Now:
X360 - $200/$300
Wii - $250
PS3 - $400
Still, a 100 million machines at $200+ is damn impressive for this generation in a freaking global recession

Also, this isn't really a price cut, but the upgrading of a model. It would be like the 80GB PS3 being discontinued and the 160GB becoming $399. If there was then, say, a 40GB at $299, because this Elite-Pro isn't the cheapest model.
thats pretty good but now the arcade is useless at 199, for only 100 bucks more you get tons more with the elite.
so i expect a price cut on the arcade if one is put on the elite
This should come as less of a surprise than the PS3 going down in price.
