A Sony peep-ette just commented on the EU PS Blog:

'We will be making an official announcement regarding our forthcoming Video Store, next week, at Gamescom! :)'

It only took them a year from the point when they announced the European Video Store, but it looks like it's coming very soon.

So, will it be any good? Will it be priced better than what I get from Virgin Cable? Or, will it be très rubbish? Dunno, but I'll take a look. We use the free video-music-thing in our house a fair bit, so we may very well use this as well. Anyone know how much Microsoft charge for this sort of thing and whether the service is any good in the EU?

If it is cheaper than the Virgin Media one then i am all for it
