So i want a slim because they look better, but i been told that they aint as reliable as the phat ones.

Does the slim over heat still or have they sorted it thanks alot

Thanks for the hardware information and game advice. The only thing about the game advice is that i have plenty of PS2 games already.

I think they're actually the more reliable ones...
My slim has been through 6-8hrs JRPG sessions for years now, traveled back and forth around half of Europe, seen dorms parties... and it's still doing just fine.

The slim PS2's are likely to be the most reliable out of the console line, since it is the more refined final iteration of the console. Then again saying that i had my launch 'fat' console for years without any of the 'well known' issues so i guess it is just luck really!

If you get a PS2 then there are a few games you simply have to pick up:

Final Fantasy x
Kingdom Hearts 1&2
Shadow of the Colossus
Ico

to name a few from my own collection that are just awesome!

I've had the slim PS2 when it first came out and its still working perfectly, never had it overheated. I also have the phat PS2 since like 2001-2002 and that still works perfectly too. So so far Sony's been good and reliable. Im sure you wont have any problem with the slim.

Recommended games: What Squall_Leonhart said, along with Resident Evil 4, DMC series, Onimusha Series, Metal Gear Solid 2&3, those are some of my fav =)

Don't forget God of war, Silent hill 2 and 3 and jax and daxter. Gran turismo 4 is also a classic and so is medal of honor frontline (made by the people now known as infinity ward, yes, that's call of duty).

I've had my normal PS2 since March 2002 and it stills gets used today. That said, it's in reality my second PS2 since the first one crapped out the very same day it was bought (the Reality Synthesizer, the graphics chip, probably had a heart attack since the game ran and sound was heard, but the graphics were beyond corrupted, only multicolored lines were seen) and was immediately traded for my current one the next day.

The most recent Slims though, the 90000, are probably very reliable since Sony now has years of experience with the hardware. My boyfriend bought one of those 2 months ago and it works flawlessly. It's also a small and cute little piece of hardware, I'm jealous of it.

Slims will do fine. I got mine a couple years ago and nothing bad ever happened to it.
