Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Virtual Console games are too expensive . . .

$5.00 is not a rip off.

TurboGrafx16 (PC Engine) games at $6 a piece is reasonable. Now, if they would only come out with Legendary Axe. GRRR!

Sorry I've had a gripe about the prices for Virtual Console games. They charge us $5 for Nintendo games, $8 for Super Nintendo games, and a whopping $10 for N64 games. Now if you think about it some of these old games cost more than Wii Ware games themselves, which im more willing to pay for because those are brand new games. And this goes for the games for the other consoles too like Genesis and NeoGeo.

I believe they should be Nintendo - $2, SNES - $4 N64 - $5 or $6

I know Nintendo is a business and I have VC games but I think Nintendo needs to reconsider their prices. We should make a petition. Your thoughts.

A petition to ask for better games would be something I'd be interested in. Not like it would do anything, but honestly, Nintendo continues to release absolute crap on the VC week after week. We barely have any N64 games, and very few AAA titles among a sea of no name games. A total wasted opportunity in my opinion. VC has been a bust for the most part.

Depends on the game.

$5 for NES tennis? no thanks.

$5 for the Legend of Zelda or Super Mario Bros. that's a steal!

It costs $14 on amazon for a used copy of the original NES version of Zelda.

Super Mario Bros is $800 new or $2 for a piece of crap game only that barely works.

Ocarina of time is $150

Super Mario 64 is $110.

Even the used games are more expensive than VC prices.

I Think that The VC Prices Are Good If I Recall Didn't NES gmaes Cost Like $59.99 When They Were New Like In 1985? And We Get Them New Unlike Some Trash Cartridge That Barely Works No Freeze Yay

Go find Super Mario RPG for $8. I dare you.

@pha4nt Those must be unopened, which will obviously be much more.

ok ok some of you have good points. some games are worth it more than others, SM RPG, LoZ, but i still stand by my case. And someone else made another good point. VC could be better. It seems like Nintendo is being lazy. There are so many more good games that havent been released on it.

Nintendo should have a suggestions board where people suggest what games they want to come out on the VC.

I kind of felt the same way at first, but then again... most SNES and N64 games for example are a steal at $8 or $10, because the titles that are currently available on the VC regularly go for at least twice that in the used game market. Good luck finding a copy of Mario RPG or Secret of Mana in relatively good condition for $8, or a copy of Paper Mario, Ocarina or Majora's Mask (gold editions) for $10. Plus you're getting a lot more bang for your buck for these games.

On the other hand I do think that most NES/TG-16/Commodore 64/Master System games are overpriced and should be a bit cheaper, maybe $2-$3 aside from major titles like the Mario and Sonic games of course. But then again... Microsoft charges no less than $5 for age-old arcade games like Pac Man, Asteroids, Joust, Galaga, etc., so why shouldn't Nintendo charge the same on the VC?

You know I was always wondering why no one ever used the dollar sign for $ony, but then I realized they have no money so it would be pointless.

This I kind of agree with. I basically want their entire catalog on there.

What? Secret of Mana is on the VC? No way!
And to your second point. Well Microsoft will be Microsoft and besides they are known for pricy products. But Nintendo should still lower their prices, and then maybe that'll make Xbox owners a little jealous . . . ha ha jk.
