When it went multiplat, PS3 owners downplayed its importance with that very damage control.

However, if this game was still PS3 exclusive, it would be touted as the best fighter so far this gen, and there would be hype trains, sales predictions, and everything else that comes for free with being a PS3 exclusive, quality be damned.

It shouldn't have betrayed the fanbase, and now it must pay....with passive-agressive foeboyism.

SFIV was much shallower that I expected from reviews, and that same basic entry level accessability ruined the game.

No button masher would ever beat me at Tekken. Not one round, ever.

Before the SF fanboys jump me, know this. SF does have some depth, but it's dissapointingly shallow compared to SFIII, or Tekken in general. Not arguable.

You just need to look at the people downplaying it in this very thread, to realize why this game is no longer hyped.

oh gawd...enough Zen...i literally rolled my eyes after i read I read this....Fighters are just not as important as a new shooter, action/adventure, RPG, Mario,Zelda..thats why fighters dont get hyped...your over dramatic hate for fanboys only makes u just as annoying them

I don't hate fanboys. I love them. I do, however, hate hipocrisy, and I also despise when a game is treated unfairly due to attempted marketing by a hipocrite.

For instance, Prototype. Even though it was only a decent game, nothing special, many, many fanboys on this forum treated the game like it was utter shite, just because the PS3 had a competing sandbox game that released at a similar time.

The people who poured their lives into that game didn't deserve that, and so yes, I hate. I'm a hater. Forgive me. If I annoy you, cease to read my opinions.

...but be just in your ramblings. Don't treat games unfairly just because you think the people who made them are anon.

 

That said, ABSOLUTELY, this game would be more hyped if it was a PS3 exclusive. You deny that?

You can thank Halo: CE for that. Made the biggest shift in genre importance history >_> still wish JRPGs and fighters had the prominence they did back in the pre-Halo days, but heck. Shooters aren't bad either.

Its lack of exclusivity also helped. Think of if BlazBlue was a PS3 exclusive, or Soulcalibur 4 was a 360 exclusive. Both would be called the greatest fighters since Street Fighter 2.



GOTY Contestants this year: Dead Space 2, Dark Souls, Tales of Graces f. Everything else can suck it.

Whatever bro, that's one of the most notable fighters on the PS2, a tourney favorite, and was embraced and cherished by the entire Tekken subculture after the atrocity to the combat system that was Tekken 4.

If you don't think that game was good, then I question your taste in fighters.

Tekken 6 has ALWAYS been underhyped for some reason. Probably because it's taken so long to release, Street Fighter 4 and Soul Calibur 4 came and went a long time ago. And we're still waiting for T 6. It was released in the arcades nearly 2 years ago, no other Tekken game has ever taken this long to come out.
