Forums - Sales Discussion - ps3 and 360 in france, last numbers

It 's at this link:

http://www.afjv.com/press0710/071008_playstation3_ps3_399_euros.htm

* Source GFK (dernier chiffres disponibles à date)

Volume cumulé des ventes PS3 et Xbox 360 en 2007 en milliers d’unités sur le marché français
Périodes PS3 Xbox 360
Janvier - Aout 2007 179 97
Mars - Aout 2007 179 66

So 66000 xbox 360 from begin march to end august

So 97000 xbox 360 from begin januar to end august

And 179000 ps3 from begin march to end august

At vgchartz, we have for 2 september:

3,847192,193

360 since begin march to end august at vgchartz: 61000

360 since begin januar to end august at vgchartz: 93500

We learn more in the article:

« Avec plus de 200 000* unités vendues aux consommateurs à fin septembre 2007, soit 3 fois les ventes de la console concurrente,

So more that 200000 ps3 in France end september, and three ps3 for one 360 since the launch of the ps3 (said by sony).

vgchartz numbers 30 september :

4,306208,146

Recently, i give other numbers in this thread:

http://vgchartz.com/forum/thread.php?id=7694

My thread was:

Begin

We can see this link,

http://www.gamekult.com/articles/A0000061413/

Vincent Gaunet of Microsoft France say that, there is 430000 xbox 360 sold in france (23 september). Vgchartz say 530000. Who is right? (vgchartz give 507000 now) Its'strange, because in last november, there was 300000 xbox 360 in france, and with christmas, the vgchartz numbers don't seems false. It's not the first time they speak about french numbers. 400000 in end june, but i'm not sure. I will surch all this link, i remember. But, i find this number strange.

edit: for the number of 300000, i find the link.

http://www.gamekult.com/finances/articles/A0000053925/

They said a little bit less than 300000 in the begin of december 2006.

Re edit: for the number of 400000, i find the link:

http://www.jeuxvideo.fr/xbox-360-microsoft-manque-son-objectif-maj-actu-76280.html

Date of the article: 6 july, but the info of 400000 is an update of the article, which i don't know the date exactly.

End

Other link available when i did this thread:

http://www.gamekult.com/finances/articles/A0000061425/

which we learn 200000 ps3 in France 23 september, and two ps3 for one 360 in the actual sales (said by sony) (Georges Fornay parle de 200 000 PlayStation 3 vendues "au client final" en France, un total qu'il annonce supérieur à celui de la première année de la PlayStation 2 en 2001. Le cap des 500 000 machines dès la première année devrait être franchi "largement", aux dires du patron de Sony PlayStation France, qui affirme que Sony vend jusqu'à présent deux fois plus de PS3 que Microsoft de Xbox 360).

At vgchartz, we have 23 september:

3,827203,840

For memory:

http://www.gamekult.com/finances/articles/A0000057360/

43000 xbox 360 sold Q1 2007 in france.

81000 ps3 sold Q1 2007 in france.

As the conclusion, the final number of the ps3 is good, but not the number for end august.

The 360 is always overstimate life to date, but underestimate march to august.

Update:

We have an interview of Georges Fornay at this link:

http://www.jeuxvideo.fr/interview-exclusive-georges-fornay-sony-france-actu-82578.html

He speak about the gfk numbers i speak in the begin of my post. About that he speak about to 2 time to 3 time more ps3 than 360 in France since januar or march.

The number of 200000 is for the end of september and not for 23 september.

That didn't make much sense. Could you do a conclusion at the end?

And snuggle the girls be they short or tall,

It's a bit unfair to compare launch statistics to average monthly sales.

Not agree, because ioi use old numbers to do new numbers. So, he need more information as possible.

I had made a conclusion at the end.

Sorry, a lot of the stuff you mention could contain many errors. For example, when an article quotes statistics, they could quoting vastly different stats. Sometimes they will quote current statistics, the last quarters statistics, ship to warehouse numbers, shipped to retailer numbers, etc. Unless each article is very clear to what statistics they are referencing, one cannot assume anything.

The first numbers in my thread are those of gfk, so the good numbers.

very nice.

I'm not convinced because I can't even understand half of what you posted. I'm not sure if the statistics you posted match your arguments. IMO, if you are going to complain about VGC numbers, you have to have undisputable proof from multiple sources. Plus you should send the info to Ioi first instead of whining about it on the forums.
