Forums - Gaming Discussion - 'Soundtrack' option...why not??

We see some collector's edition of games coming out and one of the perks is the soundtrack to said game.  You can even sometimes buy the soundtrack itself if I'm not mistaken.

Anyway, that's neither here nor there.   Here's my question.  How come the console makers haven't added a feature for you to be able to listen to a game CD as a soundtrack?  All of the songs are on the disc....and the disc plays in the console.  How come you can't just set it to play music for you?  You still couldn't rip the music because it's a game disc, and you couldn't even use the disc in other devices because of it's format.

That MS thread got me thinking about this...I wish I could just pop my LBP BR-D in and just set it to play the music beginning to end.  Why can't I do this yet???

Some games do allow you to. Of the four PS3 games I own two of them got the feature..

I agree that it'd be nice if it was a more common feature though.

It's more of a Japanese thing to do. It hadn't really been established as. Norm or something to be expected of in the US/Euro. An example of a PS3 gMe that lets you do this is Valkyia Chronicles.

Every EA Sports game has this feature

Eternal Sonata, 50 Cent Blood on the Sand, Saints Row/Saints Row 2, Project Gotham Racing 4, Tony Hawk- Pro Evolution Soccer- & Burnout games and some others have it as well.

That's really good to know.  I think it should be an advertised feature whenever a game releases, I know I'd sure appreciate the information.

@Akvod
Just another reason to get Valkyria Chronicles...I still haven't, despite never hearing anything negative about the game..ever.  I think I'll wait until I finish beating Tales of Vesperia though so I can give it back to my friend.  Otherwise, he'll be waiting..lol=P

Eternal Sonata and Valkyria Chronicles both have the feature although you do have to unlock it.
