Forums - Microsoft Discussion - E74 / RRoD 3 year warranty question.

I bought my 360 in March 07', I got the RRoD and sent it into repair. Now i'm sending it in again today for the E74 error.

My question is, does the 3 year warranty only apply to the date of purchase? So once i'm 3 years over my purchase date i can't send it in for any more repairs, or does it "reset" everytime you get a new console, for example If the new xbox they ship me breaks within a year (after my initial 3 year warranty is up) can it still be repaired for free? (provided it's rrod or E74 error again)

it counted as the initial sale date generally.
but u some companies do it for each device exchanged as new.

I guess I should elaborate.

When i send in my 360, they ask for the serial number online, and i'm assuming that's where they get the warranty information.

And since every 360 I get sent has a different serial number, I kind of assumed that when I put that number in, it will see it as a more recent console, thus extending the warranty, and I want to know if this is a correct assessment.

if you send one in for servicing they reset the one you get back so its good for another 3 years for E-74 and RRD on the one you get back.

Yep, i'm a girl

Nice! thank you.

Really?  Are you sure about that?  I was always under the impression that it was 3 years from the manufacturing date.

ill call them and ask. but anytime i ever help with sending in a friends 360 they have always renewed there warranty.

Wow I didn't know they renew it.
Im still not convinced, but if this is true, its like unlimited repairs lol :D

More incentive to fix the problem, huh?

Since every new 360 they send you has a different manufacturing date, I guess it makes sense.
