Forums - Gaming Discussion - PSN vs. Xbox Live - which is better now?

It's been a while since this subject has been up and there's been a lot of changes lately, so I'd like to see what you guys think now.

The PSN get's better everyday and in my opinion it's definitely up to the level of Xbox Live right now, probably a little better because it's all free. Sony's finally starting to bring the PSOne classics to the PSN which is a big plus for me, the PSN games are amazing, it's starting to get some of downloaded content that was exclusive to Xbox Live, and has surpassed Xbox Live in userbase.

Also not sure if this counts as PSN but it's worth a mentioning, Vidzone is incredible, 1.5 million tracks, 25,000 music videos, 15,000 realtones and full access to catalogues from Sony Music and EMI all for a low price of $0.00, yup it's free aswell.

So what do you think, is the PSN better or worst then Xbox Live, or even up to Xbox Live standards?

Live at the moment.
Once PSN gets cross-game voice chat, I will change my mind probably, but who knows.

IMO until PSN gets proper chat in-game (for any online multiplayer game) it can't get better than Live. It's simply something utterly practical to have.

However since it's free it's the one I use. I play online far too seldom to pay for the constant availability of the service. So I used up my one free month of Gold and don't intend on buying another.

Vidzone is pretty good and they are actually still adding new videos, but they could use an easier to use search and related videos option.

Live's still better, IMO.

Live definitely has more to brag about on paper, and it has all the features. However, I like the way PSN is layed out on the XMB better, it's clearer, and quicker for me.

I think something that would be totally awesome, and would trump Live instantly, would be if Sony went and introduced Skype into the PS3, it's already on the PSP. But if Sony get it working on the PS3 and in-game it would mean that not only could I chat in parties with my friends that are on the PS3, I'll also be able to chat to my mates who are on their computer.

Microsoft could easily counter this for allowing for cross-system chatting over LIVE, but they haven't added that functionality, yet... also, I think you actually have to be playing a GFWL game to get access to Live on the PC.

Both have plenty of things the other doesn't.

XBL- cross game chat, faster updates, demos for all XBLA games, movie DL service, soon games on demand

PSN- Remote Play, gamesharing, internet browser, Home, Vidzone, more dedicated servers.
