Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Newlyweds' most wanted gift...the Wii!

Oh I'm sorry. I didn't know someone could be on the list and still be hardcore.

Also your sentence said they had to change to make money, when really if they didn't change they would still be making money.

My prediction for YEARS END:

WII - 18.3 Million

Xbox 360 - 15 Million

Playstation 3 - 8.5 Million

I don't think anyone said PS3 is doomed.

Or did you just stereotype Nintendo fans by thinking every little bit of info they say is automatically saying PS3 will fail. Without reading any posts.

@Dtewi
Do you think that if Nintendo was releasing games like H3, Gears, Resistance, UT3, etc. that the crowd they are catering the wii toward now would buy those games? NO! The crowd they are catering to is the crowd that like simple games like I said, Wii Sports, Play, Warioware, etc. they don't care for complex or "hardcore" games. They would have to change their marketing strategy to make MORE money where they can. I'm not trying to beat up on the big N, it just sucks they'd do that to people who've supported them for years (I haven't) but for people who have, that sux.

Shows how the Wii has forgotten the hardcore gamer... For shame. :(

So hardcore gamers aren't allowed to marry?

*Takes a look at himself in uncertainty*

Ha, funny.  Hardcore gamers can marry but the fact that it's number one on registry for weddings shows that the hardcore gamer is forgotten by the Wii crowd.  How high was the 360, PS3, PS2, PSP, or DS on that list.  Probably nowhere cuz now middle aged men and women are using Wii Sports (and eventually Wii fit) to lose weight or because they have nothing to do once they get married and find out that they're barren.

You really don't want to be around this place very long, do you?

I'm a mod, come to me if there's mod'n to do.

Serves me right for challenging his sales predictions!

Bet with dsisister44: Red Steel 2 will sell 1 million within it's first 365 days of sales.

Nintendo's biggest two games are casual automatically making them forget the hardcore?!?!

If you remember their next 4 biggest games are core.

Zelda, Metroid, Smash, Galaxy.

...why must the console warz devour everything?

There is no such thing as a console war. This is the first step to game design.

^^^^ no, it didn't automatically make them casual but when you have a press confrence (E3) and you spend so much time talking about how you appeal to the masses and then give a fifteen minute presentation on Wii Fit and glaze over the core 4, that's when you've left the hardcore

They gave attention to Galaxy and Brawl.

WiiFit is going to be huge because the Wii Series is huge.

If you think them announcing a new installment for their biggest series so far and not giving enough attention to games people already know about makes them COMPLETELY forget about the hardcore market than go back to your 360 when you can chainsaw people and stay the hell out of this thread to make sure when someone points out how wrong you are you will too busy forgetting why this makes a big deal anyway.

This is some truth in this.

Nintendo's design priorities haven't seemed to have changed all that much, but it's marketing and PR spins have changed a bit.  They're trying to market to a different segment of the market and now some people such as DMJ are offended by it.  To them, it feels like Nintendo has turned its back on them.

I understand it, but I would rather judge a company by the games it makes rather than any PR statements.
