“When we make some new announcement and if there is no positive initial reaction from the market, I try to think of it as a good sign because that can be interpreted as people reacting to something groundbreaking. ...if the employees were always minding themselves to do whatever the market is requiring at any moment, and if they were always focusing on something we can sell right now for the short term, it would be very limiting. We are trying to think outside the box.” - Satoru Iwata - This is why corporate multinationals will never truly understand, or risk doing, what Nintendo does.

wii sports is a game you play for an hour than never play again for another six month's.that's not a good game.

I've been playing Wii Sports since I first got my paws on it at a mall kiosk before the Wii launched, and I still played it a few days ago, so I've been playing it on and off for just under 3 years so far.

Argument is kinda pointless, you bring up point A and point out the obvious hits like the Wii series, those games are for the casuals, you bring up point B and list games like Disaster DoC and they have to be GOOD games in his eyes (though I hardly believe he played Disaster DoC to be able to judge) and I'm fairly certain any other point that is made will be shot down in some way as it is with most people, if they don't listen to the obvious it's most likely cause they're not wanting to listen and certainly no amount of discussion will fix so best to ignore these threads sometimes.

Wii Friend Code - 5882 9717 7391 0918 (PM me if you add me), PSN - MaxwellGT2000, XBL - BlkKniteCecil, MaxwellGT2000

Would be cool if they brought all of them to the to the USA and don't keep them as Japanese exclusives were they bomb hard.

After all, didn't Nintendo say they were aiming for everyone? NCL might, but NoA most certainly doesn't.

Fullfilled Prophecies

Retro Studios will most likely have a new IP to show at E3 2010.

When you look at the titles that EAD have developed this generation, they mostly make sense. I think the only two games that Nintendo could have scrapped/changed completely were the holiday titles of 2008, Wii Music and Animal Crossing: City Folk. Apart from those the EAD titles have all made perfect sense.

Look at the expertise the respective teams have:

EAD 1

Mario Kart: Double Dash!!
Nintendogs
Mario Kart DS
Mario Kart Wii

In Development:
Pikmin 3
Starfox?
Nintendogs 2?

EAD 2

Animal Crossing: Wild World
Wii Sports
Wii Play
Star Fox Command (Co developed w/ Q Games)
Animal Crossing: Let's Go to the City
Wii Music

In Development:
Wii Sports Resort
Wii Vitality
Starfox?

EAD 3

The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker
The Legend of Zelda: Four Swords Adventure
The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess
The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass
Link's Crossbow Training

In Development:
The Legend of Zelda Wii
The Legend of Zelda: Spirit Tracks

EAD 4

Super Mario Advance
Super Mario Advance 2: Super Mario World
Super Mario Advance 3: Yoshi's Island
Super Mario Advance 4: Super Mario Bros. 3
Super Mario 64 DS
Band Brothers
Yoshi Touch 'N Go
Big Brain Academy
New Super Mario Bros.
Big Brain Academy: Wii Degree
Band Brothers DX

In development:
New Super Mario Bros. Wii

EAD 5

Wii Fit

In Development:
Wii Fit Plus

EAD Tokyo

Donkey Kong: Jungle Beat
Super Mario Galaxy

In Development:
Super Mario Galaxy 2

I think you just trolled your own thread.

Wii sport and wii fit are all new IP from Nintendo, they just happen to be IP which the majority of core gamers don't give a shite about, this IP is more for the casuals with a bit of overlap from the core...that's your question answered ^_^

Now as for when Nintendo will actually create a new IP that core gamers will actually give a crap about....well everyone should ask Nintendo, as for my opinion, I doubt it, their to cheap and greedy to fund a New IP which may not have the success of say mario galaxy of zelda out of the gate, and if it doesn't sell well....well that's a risk they don't want to take....it sucks though because in in order to have an IP with a base it has to start form some where, and some times a game needs a sequel to further grow the game install base, but again it's to much work and the risk is high, so the cheap assed Nintendo pricks play it extremely safe so what we get is rehashes of all their old franchises, which is great for those that have never played them before, but stale if you played them before....I'm sure NDF will say otherwise and will go mental if anyone has an opinion against Nintendo doings.

anyways, that's my 2 cents

I'm sorry, but you are so wrong. If Miyamoto comes up with a new IP idea, like he did with Pikmin or Nintendogs (or the new uber-casual, hated by undoubtedly at least 80% of hardcore gamers, wii series /sarcasm), which he believes is fun and will be enjoyed by gamers, then that game WILL get made. Who in Nintendo is going to stop it? Iwata? Do you think Iwata is going to turn around to Miyamoto and say:

"Oh I'm sorry Miyamoto san, your ideas have been so risky in the past, it's too much work and we're not in a safe financial place so I'm going to overrule you on this occasion. I'm a cheap assed Nintendo prick, you see".

You're dreaming.

P.S. Good luck finding gamers who found Super Mario Galaxy stale.

Seems to me like there won't be a satisfactory answer to this thread. Reasonable answers have been provided from page 1, but this thread still goes on. Why is that? Because the so called 'core' are never satisfied with what Nintendo do.

For all people complain about Nintendo re-using their IPs or rehashing them, take a look at this thread and you'll realise your complaints and arguments against Nintendo's new Wii IPs are rehashed arguments from the last few generations.

Oh, and Mario Galaxy is stale, is it? I guess the highest rated game of this generation and of this decade didn't do anything new or refreshing with one of gaming's most popular character.

My advice: Leave this thread to die. The reasonable people won't get through to those without reason, who want to cling on to their view of Nintendo as a stale company who rehash the same old things. If that's what Nintendo do, then I wonder how in the seven circles of hell they came up with the concepts for DS and Wii...
