Forums - Gaming Discussion - Why Buy Unproven Titles Day 1?

I find it puzzling how some people choose to buy new, obscure titles day 1. Since most of the games that fall into this category flop, they receive almost immediate price drops.

So, what leads people to buy unknown games day 1 when they could wait a week to see how well it sells and the chances it has of a receiving a hasty price cut?

Cause the art of the box looks coool !!! And.... screeenshots !!

Evan Wells (Uncharted 2): I think the differences that you see between any two games has much more to do with the developer than whether it’s on the Xbox or PS3.

Because I can afford it? =D

Well most casuals pick up games based on the cover and advertising alone.

It's not uncommon to pick up a game that has a massive section of the gaming department devoted to advertising it or they know the game content (i.e It's a movie game) but not much about the game itself.

Well I was wondering why I was buying games day one recently....

it seems buying 1-2 months later is a safer bet.... that is how I got fable 2 at 17£ before christmass...works for about every game.
Unless it's a nintendo game (punch out at 30... jumped to 35 in the mean time and is now back to 30), a call of duty or an NHL 09....

I don't even like paying full price for great games. There's only a handful of games I can justify paying $60 for. I mean $60 could get me a couple HJs.

Is this in reference to Fat Princess?

Because playing something before the internet becomes filled with opinions on the game is special.

When a bunch of websites say a game isn't good. There's a strong possibility its not good.

You mean like the time when many reviewers bashed Mario Kart Wii?
