Forums - Nintendo Discussion - I've plugged my Wii on a HDTV!

Even with the component cables the lag will remain? And ghosts? :S

HDTVs aren't always better than CRT. Some have these flaws. Heck, I've heard some HDTVs aren't good for rythym games because of the small lag between image and sound.

A flashy-first game is awesome when it comes out. A great-first game is awesome forever.

Yeah, its related to your screens response time. If you hook up a HD console to it you will see the same problem. My LCD screen has a 2ms response time and none of my systems lag. Most people feel comfortable with 4ms but it is felt anything higher and you will get lag.

Getting an XBOX One for me is like being in a bad relationship but staying together because we have kids. XBone we have 20000+ achievement points, 2+ years of XBL Gold and 20000+ MS points. I think its best we stay together if only for the MS points.

Nintendo Treehouse is what happens when a publisher is confident and proud of its games and doesn't need to show CGI lies for five minutes.

I use component cable on my LG LF15 32" and it still looking great, actually better than my CRT TV.

Oh, and don't forget to adjust in Option to let your Wii know that you using HDTV too.

maybe you can post what ,model tv you have so we could see the specs, mainly the response time if you are having lag

lol @ HDTV causing "bad framerate"

Component cables can generally be had for not much money and quality seems to be much the same regardless of brand. I have the Nintendo ones and a cheap third party alternative and haven't noticed much of a difference.

It wouldn't make sense to me that you'd have ghosting only with Wii games as that should be a function of your TV and to my knowledge shouldn't be impacted greatly by the cables you use.

My advice would be to buy some cheap cables or borrow some if you can to see if it makes a significant difference but as LordTheNightKnight said a 480i/p image is not necessarily going to look better on an LCD than a CRT.

Get the wii oficial component cable.

@one_touch_KO

my Wii is hooked up to an HDTV and it looks fine, and I dident notice point lag, im using a Sony Bravia

I specifically looked into picture lag when purchasing a flatscreen TV. I would guess that many low-end LCD's may have significant lag. Some TV's provide a 'game' option to remove picture processing. You might be out of luck with your TV. The Panasonic plasma I ended up getting is terrific. Wii looks great on it, and no noticable lag.

Ghosting and input lag are due to the TV, not the game console.

For a quick check, If you have any other consoles, plug them in and see if they get ghosting, if they do that means your TV has a long response time (essentialy how long it takes for a pixel to change) High response times cause ghosting. Most HDTV's with high response times have a "game mode" to reduce it, I suggest looking in your manual or settings to see if your TV has game mode, it helps a ton.

The component cables, and setting the Wii to 480P, should remove all bluriness and make the image sharper, get the official Nintendo ones, they are cheap.
