Forums - Gaming Discussion - How big of a blow to MS would it be if Gears of war 2, lost oddysey

ALSO

if there IS a MGS MOVIE deal with SONY PICTURES

is this affecting the exclusivity deal

like have SONY said "we'll only fund your MGS movie, IF MGS4 is exclusive to Ps3)

Supporter of

 SONY & Nintendo

Consoles owned - SNES, N64, PS, GC, PS2, PSP, PS3

 I DO NOT support Xbox

My prediction for YEARS END:

WII - 18.3 Million

Xbox 360 - 15 Million

Playstation 3 - 8.5 Million

Around the Network

MGS4 is only going multi if it doesnt sell more than 1 million copies.

Exactly. MGO was desiged to expand the series beyond the single player story. They probably made MGO to increase profit for MGS series (like downloadable content).

I'll take the case!!!

When the rumers arose of it being ported to 360 CAPCOM STATED: " THE GAME WILL NEVER BE ON ANY OTHER CONSOLE THAN THE PLAYSTATION 3' What happened? $$$$$$$

Capcom have always been like that though, it was not a surprise and it was nothing new. Capcom took Resident Evil off the PS2 and put it exclusive on the Gamecube after the success of the PS1 and then screwed Nintendo by putting the series back on the PS2 again. That has been Capcom's nature for many years but tell me did Konami and S-E start that policy? And I can tell you for fact that Kojima/Nomura/Kitase have a lot more say about which platforms their games go then Mikami ever did with Capcom.

The situations totally don't compare. Capcom have never been has defensive as Kojima is with MGS4. EVER.

Of course Nomura and Kitase have more say, its developed and published by the same company,

MGS4 is not published by Kojima, its by Konomi or whoever, and they get to decide.

Its not like SE and Konomi have betrayed companys many times, just look at DQ 9 being ds, is that no backstabbing sony? They did it for profits, and you can bet your ass Konomi would do it for MGS4 if the profits were there

If Konami had full say the game would have gone months ago, they don't have total control. Period.

And what does DQ9 have to do with anything? Different situation. There was no misleading backstabbing information with that. They announced it for the DS straight, no problem with that. FF not the same though, not only did the ADD "For PLAYSTATION 3 ONLY" to the TGS trailers but Nomura reported to Famitsu that they are only making the games on the PS3 and that the PS3 was KEY aspect to the games and that the hardware makes all their dreams for the games possible.

Not the same, not the same at all.

Sony also has a exclusive deal with MGS4 at least a certain time period, take that into consideration?

Alright you dont like that SE example lets try this one

When Square announced that the new FF would not be on a nintendo console, but on the playstation, they did that becaus it would be CHEAPER. Companys do it for money.

I'm not going to argue it further, we could go all day but don't forget that Sony are also heavily invested into these games. They pay for games just like Microsoft do...

MGSOnline is a good point, but if you remeber MS is willing to bend its live rules, it did that for EA where they use their own crappy servers, something i do take exception to, all severs should be MS's so they dont close which EA dose after a few years.

I think MS might be willing to cough up the money for that one. as for contracts have we seen any, id say square enix at least has a timed if not exclusivity for FF XIII just because of the recent video, have we seen or heard anything on MGS in relation to this, if they were publicily traded, someone who owned stock could find out they payment for contract would have to be disclosed.

ummm actually no they didnt say DMC4 ps3 only.. wheres the game trailer that says ps3 only???

Well, its what the Sony fans were saying when rumors of multiplatform surfaced.

"No way....DMC will NEVER go multiplatform....."

PS360 ftw!

Currently playing..........

Gears of War 2, GTA IV Lost and Damned, Little Big Planet (Yes I said I had no interest but my girl wanted to try it and we did and now Im hooked )

Hey what the hell happened here? Is leo-j making sense or what? :-S

Just look at DMC 3 sales compared to the original DMC. Sales are poor in comparison. It is best for this game to go multiplatform.

I'll take the case!!!

Don't feed the troll guys. Just ignore him and he will go away. Anyone that isn't smart enough to realize that the difference between IPs owned by first party hardware makers and IPs produced by third parties isn't worth the effort.

lol im a troll now... i have a good enough reputation on this site to you prove you wrong...

Well if you had a decent reputation you flushed it with your topic. Even Soriku has the good sense to IPs that were wholely owned by third parties. You choose Gear of War, Lost Odyssey, Halo, and Mass Effect. Microsoft owns Halo and Gears of War. There is no way they will be released on PS3. Lost Odyssey and Mass Effect are developed by third parties exclusively for 360 with Microsoft Games Studio as the publisher. That also means that these games will not see PS3. You should have choose titles created, owned, and published by third party developers. You didn't so you actually managed to make a more trollish thread than Soriku. That feat is extremely hard to accomplish. Yet you managed to do so, so pat yourself on the back. I mean Leo-J and Soriku are kids, they have an excuse. What's yours?
