So I have a PS3, but no 360. I've been wanting to play games like Mass Effect, the Orange Box, Gears of War, L4D etc for ages, but could never justify the price of the 360 plus Xbox Live fees. Recently I upgraded my old ass circa 2003 Vaio so that I now have an acceptable hard drive and 2gb of RAM. It's got XP Home with a Pentium 4 2.4GHz processor. I looked up the specs and it's got an open AGP slot (I just figured out what that actually is) so it got me thinking. Can I throw in a video card for around $100 and have a somewhat legitimate gaming rig?
There's so many cards out there with so many specs I have no idea what I should be looking for. Can I throw in any AGP video card? Is there any other spec I should be aware of that will affect whether or not the card will work in my PC? Finally, anyone have a recommendation for a card?
My Top 5:
Shadow of the Colossus, Metal Gear Solid 3, Shenmue, Skies of Arcadia, Chrono Trigger
My 2 nex-gen systems: PS3 and Wii
Prediction Aug '08: We see the PSP2 released fall '09. Graphically, it's basically the same as the current system. UMD drive ditched and replaced by 4-8gb on board flash memory. Other upgrades: 2nd analog nub, touchscreen, blutooth, motion sensor. Design: Flip-style or slider. Size: Think Iphone. Cost: $199. Will be profitable on day 1.
