Forums - Sales Discussion - Analyst : Who Cares About Microsoft ?

After last week terrible MS results, an analyst says Microsoft is losing its edge and nobody cares about this company anymore.

http://www.thestreet.com/story/10552230/1/todays-outrage-who-cares-about-microsoft.html

"Sorry folks, but Microsoft (MSFT Quote) ain't what it once was. The software giant is losing its edge, as we saw with yesterday's earnings report.

(...)

The bottom line is that Microsoft is no longer a bellwether for the tech sector. It's just another software company that screwed up and is trying to get its act together after the debacle known as Vista.

It doesn't surprise me that about 60% of companies in a recent ScriptLogic survey said they have no plans to deploy Windows 7.

(...)

After all, who cares about Microsoft anymore?"

Looks like only fanboys believe everything is right for MS right now. Analysts just see a long streak of failures : Vista, Xbox 1, the RROD scandal, Zune, Internet Explorer and Office losing market shares every day to Firefox and Open Office... The list is just too long.

Do you agree with him ? Do you think MS is "losing its edge" ?

Microsoft and Steve Ballmer are going astray (trying to become a media company, it's not working), however their still gigantic and alot of people do care.

I'd agree if it wasn't for their monopoly of the OS business. We need something to run on our computers. Even if it doesn't always run.

Lots of people do. I don't care for their OS, I love the 360 though. Microsoft really needs to focus on their strengths. This is their 2nd gaming console and they've learned a lot from it, I expect them to shine next gen from all their mistakes they've learned from.

Microsoft is still important, but they have strayed from their core ideals, which is a software company.

^ Great post Rendo. They haven't been successful enough in their 'non-core' activities.

More people than currently care about Nintendo or Sony?

Does that answer the question in the topic?

Tease.
