Forums - Sales Discussion - Is Wii winning the console race? (Yahoo story)

PS3's are expected to cost ~800$ a pop to make. That's what everyone says. I think it's more like 600$... TO MAKE. 360 is about 350. That link I put earlier. About 140 for the Wii. (some of those prices are just too damn high) 31$ DVD drive? WTF, is it made out of platinum? It is the nosiest piece of CRAP I have EVER seen!!! (I say 10$ max for that DVD drive.) 30$ for the GPU... fair 11.30$ for powersupply? 11.30 for a FAN-LESS ~25w powersupply?!??! (I say 5) DRAM 7.80 Fine CPU 13 (hah, 2$ less than what I said earlier. 13$ is a fair price for me) Production Cost. 20$ (really? It took a 2 hours of factory labor to peice together a Wii? Try 5$) 30$ for the GPU - Comparing the X-Box (original) as a base... GeForce2 ultra 300-150-75-37-19-10 (I say 20) And I count the case and frills. +20 10+5+4+13+5+20+20 = I get well under 100$ My point is. The Wii is a 100-150$ machine. The PS3 is a 600$ machine. ;)

And I can pick up Super Mario Cart and improve my times by a bit, even after all these years. The game is shallow in the sense that the single player isn't very deep. Just compare the game to GT3 or 4, and then you'll see why it isn't deep. There should be allot more to a racing game than improving your lap times after 20 hours of play...

Shallow... Yet 20hours dosent master it. Someone is spewing crap. (do I suck? Let's just say every race I've done so far, I have gold) EDIT: The other thing is. Most everyone who HAS a PS3... Loves the machine... HATES the lack of software... How is the PS3 itself crap? Then you have those rich people who 'inheret' their money, and arent... that smart... ;) And dont like a good complex game. Once again. Let me sell my cult game agian. http://egosoft.com The most damn complex game you'll ever play. One of the best games ever I feel... EDIT2: If you think you can beat X3 without dying... at least once... Even after you've seen thousands of hours playing it... Your crazy. Sometimes... You go into a system with a mad mo-fo pirate. He shoots a BIG missle at you... and your ship blows up. Whoa? What happend? My ship was at full health... and then blew up?!?! NO FAIR!!! It's called. "Dont go there when Bad-Mofo pirate is there."
I have X2 for Linux and X3 for Windows and I can say the only time my ship blows up is because of bugs not pirates. The story lines is way too easy and the enemies out there are a joke. I get so pissed when the auto docking fails and I crash into a space station and have not saved.

Then why do you stay here? If this is what you really think, I'm sure there are tons of websites where you would fit in just fine with the other Sony fans.

Although Wii heavy-hitter The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess sold well in January, it was actually beaten to the top spot by quirky minigame-fest Warioware: Smooth Moves, despite the latter not actually coming out until the 15th. Rayman: Raving Rabbids came third, with under half of Zelda's sales. Unsurprisingly, Wii owners have vast appetites for games that take advantage of the machine's uniqueness.
Erm, they were both beaten to the top 3 console spots by Lost Planet, Guitar Hero II, and Gears of War. Reminds me of that horrible gamesindustry.biz article which said the top 3 February games were all Nintendo exclusives, somehow neglecting the #1 game by far, Crackdown.

Consider the user base and then re think what you said... on a userbase level Wii is doing better.

On a userbase level? NPD doesn't rank their lists by userbase level. Even if it did, both the 360 and PS3 had a higher attach rate than the Wii did that month.

There will still be fanboys. A annoying sony fanboy is still a annoying fanboy. Unless you are one and want that.......Why would anyone want that?
