Forums - Microsoft Discussion - Bungie: HALO 3 ODST won't run at 720p

The difference between 1152x640 and 1280x720 is 128x80.  See the two rabbits? That pic is 128x80.

If that measly amount of pixel loss is necessary for halo to run smoothly then so be it. I seriously doubt the scaler in the 360 is going to be stressed.

I'm sorry but you deserve it. You failed to consider we are talking about a bi-dimensional surface, thus values are squared.

128x80 = just 10.240 pixels

1280x720 = 921.600 pixels

1152x640 = 737.280 pixels

A difference of 184.320 pixels instead of 10.240 pixels, over 15 times your presumed value. Basically a 576x320 image.

I knew my post was gonna make some people mad.

I know the games are upscaled to 1080p.  Halo 3 isn't upscaled to 1080p and I know because I had Halo 3 and I have a HD TV.

I'm going by my post.  This is the nextgen of gaming and games like Halo should be upgraded in graphics and that's the way I feel about it.

The 360 has a built in hardware scaler that is capable of scaling any game.  You don't even set the resolution of games on the 360 from within the game, you set it in the 360's systems settings.  When I play Halo 3 and turn my Sony Bravia TV off, then back on, the momentary settings display shows that the signal from my 360 is 1080p.

What information from your HDTV led you to believe that Halo 3 was not running at 1080p?  Do you not have your 360 configured to upscale games to 1080p?

Or maybe he doesn't have a 360 and thought you have to do what you do on the PS3

x360 has reached it`s potential with Halo 3 in 2007.

Big Woop.....

Nothing really big hear. I don't remember anyone calling Halo3 "shit" because it ran at this resolution...

So must ask... who does this news bother?

No plenty of Sony's fanatical supporters on this site take great pleasure in lambasting Halo at every opportunity on this site, it's arguably the most hated on franchise on here due to it's amazing success for a opposing brand.

Loads of fanboys have said it's crap

here's one

Is this a bad thing?

Edit: Halo 3 is a lot of fun but not because of the excelent graphics, it's a lot of fun because of the gameplay, multiplayer, excelent single player, etc.

Halo 3 has excellent graphics since when? That game has horrible graphics and boring gameplay but that's another story,I'm glad

I traded that crap in for Tales of Vesperia.
