FFXIII does atleast 2 million LTD in Japan. I'm willing to bet on it.

I'm getting a little worried because when I made the prediction I was assuming the PS3 was going to be close to 4 million by the time FFXIII is released , and it doesn't look like that's going to happen, so I may be a little to high.

FFXIII will be the highest selling PS3 title in Japan. Ever.

Having said that, I expect a significant drop from FFXII's cume, but not as bad as the skeptics are arguing. MGSIV sold rather well despite the user base. I expect 1.7-2.0 million copies of XIII to sell in Japan. Bad for a mainline Final Fantasy title, but great for a PS3 title.

I'm going ahead and say that it is going to sell over one million copies first week and over two million lifetime.

Well, PS2 had barely over 20 games, that passed 1 mln. in Japan, and ps3 so far is not doing as good as ps2.)

But FFXIII definitely will sell a lot.) Same will go for FFXIIIv and probably GT5.

Depends, if there will be slim version and pricecut, FFXIII will sell between 2-3 mln. this year in Japan.
RE5 sales, MGS4 sales have proved, that strong IPs sell a LOT in Japan.

2009.04.30 - PS3 will OUTSELL x360 atleast by the middle of 2010. Japan+Europe > NA.


Gran Turismo 3 - 1,06 mln. in 3 weeks with around 4 mln. PS2 on the launch.
Gran Turismo 4 - 1,16 mln. with 18 mln. PS2 on the launch.

Final Fantasy X - around 2 mln. with 5 mln. PS2 on the launch.
Final Fantasy X-2 - 2.4 mln. with 12 mln. PS2 on the launch.

 

1.8 mln. PS3 today(2008.01.17) in Japan. Now(2009.04.30) 3.16 mln. PS3 were sold in Japan.
PS3 will reach 4 mln. in Japan by the end of 2009 with average weekly sales 25k.

PS3 may reach 5 mln. in Japan by the end of 2009 with average weekly sales 50k.
PS2 2001 vs PS3 2008 sales numbers =) + New games released in Japan by 2009 that passed 100k so far

You know, you should really keep your Sony fanboyishness out of predictions. It makes you predict unreasonably high sales.

No, I will not! Just because you can't see the woods for the trees it doesn't mean I don't have some cosmic inside line on how well PS3 exclusives are going to perform. This game is still a worldwide exclusive for Sony because PS3 owners can all speak 5 different languages, which is why we like the PS3 as we can have multiple audio tracks on our games due to Blu Ray so we can keep up with our language skills.

Western sales might actually make up for the Japan sales shortcomings too...

Now that's one prediction that is down to earth....

 

I can't believe how many people on this site, a sales site, still believe games can sell 3M on a 3M userbase....or even a 4M userbase for that matter.

This FF will be a Flop in japan, it'll sell only 2M lifetime (that's assuming the PS3 grows to 5M at least).

 

Remember FFVII:CC sold only 1M and that was supposed to appeal to the die hard FF fans on a 12M userbase of PSPs... so the ones willing to spend 400$ for just one game... (great game though I love how they made it very portable friendly with the missions).
