I know he meant to say that ;) People were saying around here that the 40GB without BC was BS as well, and look how that happened? To be true. I don't say all rumors are true, absolutely not, but if you consider this is coming from "inside" SCEI... it really makes you think doesn't it?

@Urnote, yes if it turns out to be true, if not then some other imaginary version ;)

Edit: But I think this could be really true. Why? Well consider the continent "Asia". As NJ5 showed in a post, most of Asia owns the 80GB Asian PS3 version. Japan has the 20GB and 60GB, not a 80GB. Or Japan will get the 80GB as well, with nothing else, or get two versions, 80GB + 160GB to compensate with the rest of Asia but have a bigger SKU as well. Just a figure of my imagination, nothing more ;)

@NJ5

their not "threatening" anyone

stop using melodramatic words to degrade SONY

their giving people a cheap PS3 with no BC

I know many people who don't give a _ _ _ _ _ for BC

I'm sorry but when Sony tells Europeans that the only model they can get in a few months is a gimped one without Backwards Compatibility, that counts as threatening in my book. They basically want to scare gamers into buying the more expensive model now...

Stop using dishonest arguments to defend Sony.

Your statement is false sir, the 60gb is permenant in europe.

 It is most definitely true.

We had two bags of grass, seventy-five pellets of mescaline, five sheets of high-powered blotter acid, a salt shaker half full of cocaine, a whole galaxy of multi-colored uppers, downers, screamers, laughers…Also a quart of tequila, a quart of rum, a case of beer, a pint of raw ether and two dozen amyls.  The only thing that really worried me was the ether.  There is nothing in the world more helpless and irresponsible and depraved than a man in the depths of an ether binge. –Raoul Duke

It is hard to shed anything but crocodile tears over White House speechwriter Patrick Buchanan's tragic analysis of the Nixon debacle. "It's like Sisyphus," he said. "We rolled the rock all the way up the mountain...and it rolled right back down on us...."  Neither Sisyphus nor the commander of the Light Brigade nor Pat Buchanan had the time or any real inclination to question what they were doing...a martyr, to the bitter end, to a "flawed" cause and a narrow, atavistic concept of conservative politics that has done more damage to itself and the country in less than six years than its liberal enemies could have done in two or three decades. -Hunter S. Thompson

@onna76

You stated that there isnt any wifi in the 20gb ps3 and thats why it didnt sell. Perhaps no BC will do the same for the 40GB version?

As far as I've heard, WiFi is a major issue.

Well the difference is, the Japanese had, still has, the choice of a 60GB or a 20GB, but soon (in a matter of weeks or months, depending on territory as stated by Sony), Europe only has the choice of a 40GB without the PS2 BC. Unless further announcements will be made in the nearby feature by SCEE. But I doubt we'll get to hear anything "before" the 60GB is completely out of stock and no longer being shipped by SCEE.

The reason why the 20gb didnt sell well was because it had no wifi and had such a small hard drive.

Um...I heard someone say you could run that 160 gig PS3 as a centralized media server.....for what exactly? What would that do that people in japan would pay extra for it?

On that issue, I don't know, but I do wonder what a dual HDMI output should be needed for? Be able to connect on two different TV's or something?

Why would you put 3 gigabit ethernet ports on this thing, what are you going to do use it as a router?

THat doesn't make any sense. The ps3 doesn't have the resources to output two 1080p signals via HDMI at once.
