Last time I checked you can buy the SOTN greatest hits version for $20 easy.
The black label version is a little more expensive.

Wow... shows how long it's been since I priced this game. The PSX version has crashed down in price. Though I see the Saturn version is holding, it's showing a few signs of further slippage, as a few copies are availiable on eBay right now for $60. Nice to see it's finally coming down, though, so that more people can own this game.

Around the Network

1. Castlevania: Order of Ecclesia
2. Super Castlevania IV
3.Castlevania: Judgment (grow up)

For some reason, Circle of moon just couldn't do anything for me. The scaling of characters was nice though.

Least favorite: Portrait of Ruin or II: Simon's Quest. I haven't played most 3D Castlevania's i'm going by the ones i have and have played. I like both PoR and SQ but not as much as the others i have.

Can't believe OoE has only been mentioned once. Guess nobody liked it, oh well :/

OOE pulls its own weight for being one of the Castlevania series, however it is not the best of the best. Try some of the older ones like the Turbo-Graphx 16 version and see for yourself. I could see possibly top 5, not top 3.

I thought Judgement was a fighting game? Sorry, if it isn't an action adventure/platformer it is not part of the main series.

First of all you really need to drop the attitude, just becuase you don't think a game belongs to the main series means it doesn't; that is merely your opinion and not a fact. Don't look at this as trolling, this is just some advice, a lot of the other members are starting to get fed up with that kind of talk and I don't think any body wants to get banned at this point.

Secondly;  what's your point? It's still my thrid favorite game in the series. "grow up" was not directed at you specificly, just all the butt-hurt fans who bitched like little children over it's existance.

I am not saying anything about how good Judgement is. I haven't even played it. I didn't say it should be everyone's least favorite. I'm saying it is not the same type of game for the purposes of this thread. I'm sure you would agree that games like "Link's crossbow Training" are not really Zelda games, and Mike Tyson's Punch Out is not a Mario game even though Mario is in it as the ref. Judgement might be a great game, it may even evolve into its own (separate) series.

I mean seriously, we are talking apples and oranges here. How can you compare a fighting game to an action/adventure? They are both fun for different reasons.

Because it still has the Castlevania logo on it; ignoring certain titles just because they stray from the traditional formula is just plain shallow minded.

OoE has been mentioned 3 times, if I counted correctly :)
Oh, it has? God i really need to read things through properly before posting >_>

Forgive me for saying this but i do think OoE is the best of all Castlevania's. Not only is it my favorite but i think it was just pulled off really really well (and a little bit differently). That's not to say it's miles ahead of every other title, they're all pretty close if you ask me, but no other title have i enjoyed as much as OoE. I may change my tune after playing other titles though, i am missing quite a lot, i've only played the ones i have in my games collection and a bit of Judgment.

@ Fossil. I liked Judgment, but no place I've been to has actually had the damn thing, i did see one copy at a shop once but next time i was there it disappeared... haven't seen another copy since.

How technical is your game?

I think it's fair to say that if OOE has anything going for it, it's for hosting the most engaging and visually stunning Dracula fight in years. (Sexual equality is nice to)

That weird about Judgment though, I've seen at least one copy in the local gamestop and eb games....you may find it for cheap in a backlog or online if you look enough.

My favorites are

Castlevania: SOTN

Castlevania: Circle of the Moon

Castlevania 3: Dracula's Curse

The N64 Castlevania's are good but the camera is murder. (There are 2 and both are worth Playing if you can find out how to make jumps with some lousy camera angles.)

The worst is Castlevania: Lament of Innocence on PS2(The first one on PS2)

Boycotting the following:

1. Yoshi: He ate my car and spit out a toaster.

2. Igglybuff: Totally false advertisement. You can have as many as you like they don't buff nothing.

3. the Terms Hardcore/Softcore... We're talking Video Games. Not Porn.

4. The term Casual as relates to Gamers: We make them sound like outsider's that happen to play games.  If that were the case they'd own a PS3.

5. Donuts.... Beacause I drink Beer...... and the biggest fan of Donuts hates Beer.

6. Boycotts: Their so lame.
