Forums - Gaming Discussion - Possible reasons for GTAIV delay?

Found this in Game Informer bout a month ago.

Edit----remind me not to post relevant information in a flamebait thread from now on.

Who really knows? I mean there are tons of multiplatform games being delayed for the PS3 and not the 360 so in my opinion I'd say the odds are that it is the PS3 holding things up. Honestly can you think of any multiplatform games that have been released so far that came out on the PS3 first and weren't timed exclusives bought by Sony?

 Gundam musou.

Couldn't it be neither consoles fault? Maybe the game in general just wasn't ready.

We've heard reports that R* was having problems with the 360s small storage capacity and lack of standard HDD, and we've also heard reports that there are problems on the ps3 side of the fence as well. I think that R* is just having trouble with the game in general.

I'm looking at the Wikipedia article (which may or may not be correct) but it says that game was originally a PS3 exclusive in Japan but had a simultaneous PS3/360 release in North America.

I don't think the 360 version of this game was ready either, according to reports that saw the game running at E3 stated then that it was extremely doubtful that R* were going to make their planned release date.

R* have stated though that the PS3 is a lot harder to program for than they first thought and that Sony wasn't being very helpful in providing support tools and such, so I have little doubt that the PS3 version definitely contributed to the delay. It is better for all consumers though that this game run at it's best and not be half assed.

jhlennon1 speaks truth. Please listen.

Well, the reason I say that it might be because of the 360 is because they have only shown the 360 version so far, and that version is REALLY buggy apparently, so it can't just be the PS3 that they're having problems with. I don't doubt that the PS3 is hard to develop for, but you can't tell me that MS would let a PS3 version that was less buggy see the light of day if the 360 version was having problems trying to compress everything, and it says in the article that Rockstar itself said that they were hoping MS would give them clearance to require an HDD to play the game on 360. That would imply that they are having at least a bit of problem with storage, and they can't be having that on the PS3, seeing as it has both blu-ray and a built in HDD in every unit.

From what I gather it's a space issue on the 360 and an optimization issue on the PS3. Everyone is right, its R*'s team fighting a battle on ALL FRONTS. Hell sometimes it could be one system or the other but in this case its BOTH. Personally I'm glad there delaying it. It just works out better for both sides ^_^. But hey we've taken stabs at both hd formats here, lets bash the third contender a bit. At least we know, ITS NOT THE WII'S FAULT. (it could be if all the devs keep wasting time playing it instead of developing >_> )

From 0 to KICKASS in .stupid seconds.

Its all ps3's fault. Sony will fail they are DOOMED!!! Nintendo and micro$oft for the world!!! WII60!!!
