@carl - you failed to answer my question about why the money black hole, also known as the ps3, does not have a GT game yet.
Also, forza trumps gt5 in many many ways so stop acting so smug.

they can't just announce the release date last-minute, they have to tell us now.

Oh they can, and will (but only because they can).

Maybe because... the game wasnt ready until recently? Also, we dont know what is happening with the PS3 this holiday, if the rumored PS3 slim or pricecut are to come... Gran Turismo 5 would be perfect for it. There could be a number of reasons really.
As for being smug... no i wasnt. Unless giving you a fact = being smug. Also, Forza trumps GT5 in so many ways... in your opinion.
@carlie - how is a price cut going to help sony make $$$ when they have lost 6 billion dollars on the ps3 so far???
my point is, leave the price of the ps3 the same so they can make at least 1 cent or yen on the ps3 before dropping the price.
3 years and NOT 1 CENT of profit from the ps3.....sad that arrogant sony mismanaged themselves so wrecklessly after being on top of the world.

I didn't mean overshadowing in terms of sales (although I actually do think it will if you think about it), but in terms of attention/hype. PSP GO desperately needs hype in the mainstream and GT5 will only take away from it. |
i doubt it, they are not competing systems. but a GT5 on a 360 would cut sales by half.
handhelds never actually damage any console game sales just because it.
mario kart dS solds tons and so did mk wii even if both version were sellling at the same time.

Like i said, i dont know what will happen. But how do we know Sony arent making money on PS3 as we speak? And a slimline would certainly give plenty of profit.
Anyway, stay on topic of Gran Turismo 5 now. The PS3 price and profit is another topic.
CMoney said: 3 FORZA'S RELEASED. 0 gran touismo's released. WHAT THE HELL!!!!!!!!???????? wHY are they focusing on the least popular handheld (psp) when they should be making sure the ps3 stops eating up all the profits and wasting all money from their gaming division? |
What does Forza 3 have to do with this thread? And why does it matter that it's been so long since the last full GT? At least we're getting another.
lol
In what ways other than exterior customization and rolling physics? We know practically nothing about GT5, so a decent comparison can't be made. We do know that the game has a number of features that Forza 3 will not match, however (like permanently owning a car in GT from this point forward - any car you buy in GT PSP will be unlocked in GT5, and this will extend to all future GT games - you buy it, you own it, permanently), much like we know of the aforementioned features from Forza 3 that GT5 will likely not be able to match.
You intentions on this site have always been rather clear. Continuing to act like you have in this thread won't help keep you from getting banned time and time again, that's for sure. >_o

I was reading the neogaf thread and someone said something along the lines of a regular $60 dollar edition for GT5 and a Special Edition GT5 that would include a voucher to download the GT PSP off PSN......really seems like a great idea and that's probably what I would buy if they give me a good deal, like say $80 bucks. |
That's actually a fantastic idea that would probably help not only boost the sales of both games, but also potentially push more hardware especially if there's some solid cross platform connectivity. Perhaps Sony has finally figured out a way to really leverage its assets, but at this point it's all just hopes and dreams. Get it done, Sony.
My Top 5:
Shadow of the Colossus, Metal Gear Solid 3, Shenmue, Skies of Arcadia, Chrono Trigger
My 2 nex-gen systems: PS3 and Wii
Prediction Aug '08: We see the PSP2 released fall '09. Graphically, it's basically the same as the current system. UMD drive ditched and replaced by 4-8gb on board flash memory. Other upgrades: 2nd analog nub, touchscreen, blutooth, motion sensor. Design: Flip-style or slider. Size: Think Iphone. Cost: $199. Will be profitable on day 1.
Honestly, I think it would be beneficial releasing both games just 1-2 months apart, for a few reasons:
1. The interactivity between the two alone is making me think of getting GTM to compliment GT5. The thought of unlocking cars while on the go that can be used in the console game is tantalizing. Releasing the games near each other would make the impact of this feature most effective, from sales perspective.
2. There are 50 million PSP owners out there. Not so many ps3 owners. Getting people hooked on GTM could nudge them towards buying a ps3, or at least towards buying GT5 in addition to GTM. The interactivity mentioned above would help here as well.
3. Marketing would be made much easier, from a mindshare perspective. Between the release of both games, you'll have people talking about Gran Turismo for a good three months straight. Plus you could do some joint advertising for both (advertising "Gran Turismo" moreso than either GT5 or GTM individually), and you could do promotions like FilaB mentioned above - possibly offering a voucher for one title via the other, or maybe something involving demos.
