Forums - Nintendo Discussion - New Super Mario Bros. Wii is history getting ready to echo

Of course there should be room for 2d games and on retail! There is no reason 2d games must be on Wiiware only. If you don´t want to buy them, fine, don´t get them but I think that there is a huge audience for 2d games out there. I know I´d buy great games in 2d. Not all games have to be in 3d do they? I think some variety would be great and I´m so happy that Nintendo are making New Super Mario Bros Wii. Hopefully it´ll be a huge hit.

2-D games require more precision and skill and timing than 3-D games, so today's gamers can't handle it. And that's why New SMB Wii is the game that gets the auto-play feature. But at the same time... 2-D games sell more millions and million than 3-D games do. It actually is possible for a game to be more impossible and yet more fun and sell more. For example, new Sonic games are easier, stupider, and not as fun as the classics.

I really doubt it. Hopefully at the very least it creates more 2d xbla, wii ware, and PSN games because i doubt people will justify paying $50 for very many games like that.

When they game sells 10 million Sega will start on Sonic Rush Wii (or something to that effect). When it reaches 15 million Ubisoft will bring back 2D Rayman. At 17 million Capcom will bring Gargoyles 'N Ghouls and Konami will bring Castlevania Wii.

Honestly I wouldn't want to see a ton of Sidescrollers hit store shelves. Firstly they are cheaper to develope then fully 3D games making it easier for developers to churn out tons of side scrollers for the price of one 3D game. In my opinion Nintendo is simply taking advantage of cheaper dev costs like they are with the whole Wii tech demo series.

That being said Nintendo does a smash up job making side scrollers. I am buying NSMBW and have debated buying LittleBigPlanet. Will we see a return of Rayman, Sonic and .... Bubsy lol because we all want Bubsy and Aero and all the other sidescrollers come back. To be honest I don't think other studios could truly create great sidescroller experiances anymore!

I'm just hoping NSMBW inspires Nintendo to go back and give us Donkey Kong Country 4!

This game is going to have huge sales...

omg sidescrollers wiht today's graphics an dmodels would be jawesome. i mean think abou tit. the new metroid is gonna be a sidescroller somewhat. and the NSMBWII is, they should do a new sonic like that. and alot of mortal kombat fans have been yelling at midway to make a new 2d version of it again but with the newmodels and 3d fatalities but with the original gameplay. all this weapon crap and side stepping is dumb the auto kombos are ok to a point but now just overkill and hard ot do most of htetime. just wish they would make a mk like they used to. but with todays mk graphics. it wouldnt be lazy it would be amazing.

man, i just hope the 2d side scrollers make a comeback. we have some on wii-ware, and i'm happy for it. they don't need to be full-priced, $50 titles, you know. SMB Wii obviously is gonna be full priced, but lesser (brand-wise) titles don't need to charge a full price to make a profit.

the Wii is an epidemic.

Little Big Planet is an amazing game.  Some complain about its floaty jumping but you soon get used to it and it has some great great platforming.  Additionally, once you beat the game there are plenty of fun to play user created levels to try.

Is Spock whispering plans for world domination into is ear?
Or is it just sweet nothings?

Sweet nothings, it's actually an ongoing joke... that works even better with the new cast.

On topic: The new sonic games still make SEGA money because there are plenty of stupid and desparate consumers, hoping that the new one just might be good.

I would cite regulation, but I know you will simply ignore it.
