Forums - Gaming Discussion - Grand Theft Auto to the Wii

If Manhunt does even semi-ok on the Wii (or gets nice reviews), its quite likely. The question is - would they release ports of the old games, make a new game, make it based on the new engine (likely that the Wii couldn't handle it - with the NaturalMotion stuff running). If it does come out, its a big vote of confidence in the Wii.

Tell me I'm wrong.(But I really hope I'm right lol) I think just about any game would sell under that deal! But thats the kind of thing Nintendo would probably save for their next game "Wii Old School" And really, whoever said that getting a GTA game wouldn't help Nintendo... How would getting one of THE biggest game series not help?
Hey, that's a good idea though, and would get GTA: Wii in alot of homes.

People tend to forget the Wii line up: Driver: Parellel Lines, No More Heroes, Godfather, Man Hunt 2, Scarface These 5 games are all up the same alley as GTA, and Man hUnt even from Rockstar, so in my opinion it comes down to sales. If they see titles like the Godfather which is getting descent reviews sell well, and their very own Man Hunt does well, I don't see why they wouldn't explore their option on the Wii for a GTA title. And like it was already said, they could release a new GTA title for the Wii/ps2 and possibly the psp also. And for the comment about Wii controls not enhancing the gameplay of GTA, just check out a video of Godfather gameplay.

i think it would be great if GTA came out for the Wii. somehow i doubt GTAs graphics are going to be too much for the Wii to handle, considering the GTA series has never been about even decent graphics. they may say they are going to work on that, but i doubt it will be anything that amazing. if they do, they should involve the Wiimote very little. just for aiming (cause aiming with the Wiimote kicks the hell out of using an analog stick) and maybe used for punching and such. then it should also be compatible with the classic controller, for those people who fear change or just simply like it better. i really hope it happens because i love the Wii and would love to eliminate any reason to buy a PS3, and GTA would be a start... and Kingdom hearts would be the finish, nothing in between. those are like the only 2 sinificant games unless you are a hardcore FF follower, in which case you need every system, handhelds and all.

They should have bundled the classic controller from the start.

If they'd done this developers would have avoided utilizing the wiimote/nunchuck motion control. For that reason only it wasn't something Nintendo could do strategically.

I actually wish they had all the buttons on the remote/nunchuck setup. Then you wouldnt NEED the Classic controller... And it would have rumble. :D (this was a serious dream. That is what I expected) Because of the lack of the 2nd stick... I still havent thought of a way to rotate the camera yet. (and dont you even think of saying pointer, I do NOT like the pointer moving anything but a crosshair) EDIT: This is not a button layout problem, this is I have to think for a split second to move the pointer to the side of the screen to rotate the camera. That split second of thinking... is a split second of... something else I could have been doing on the game. My thought process. Turn right! - move camera stick right. (current GTA system) Turn Right! - find pointer - move pointer to side paying attention to the pointer making sure it dont go off the side (most likely Wii GTA camera system) I promise you. If the game forced me to do stuff like that... I dont care WHAT console it was on. I would HATE that game. The x-box (GunValkyrie) your right thumbstick relates to a positional pointer on the screen, the problem with that is, you had to push the pointer ALL the way to the side to turn, and then it was a 'digital' turn. Only turning at one speed... slow... or fast. And that one thing. Made that game suck. I like the ability to turn slow... or fast... or inbetween. Without having to pay attention to make sure it remains at 1/2 inch from the side of my screen. (and for you mods who think this is off topic... we are talking about GTA-Wii. This is me wondering how they will control the 'camera')

I fly this flag in victory!

Firstly, although it would have had more sales, i really would have hated the idea of GTA with a Classic Controller option -- because how does that make it special? if that were the case, i'd just assume the motion controls were thrown on and i'd wait for the pc version, as i always have..

I think the best method is holding C and rotating the stick to change camera view.. but then again, i haven't put much thought into it.. maybe we should ask people who own godfather wii, how does that game deal with changing camera view?
